This is a gritty film that gets right in your face. You will be uncomfortable and disgusted. The heat of the days and boredom is starkly contrasted with the frantic minutes of action. The young soldiers become stressed and fractured during the course of the film. I think this is an important and timely movie, however I give the film a lower rating for several reasons. Firstly the characters are very stereotyped and I thought this was an unnecessary embellishment. Secondly I didn't get to know this unit well enough before the events of the film occurred. I just didn't care enough about the characters. In summary the visuals and atmosphere of the film do a great job conveying the situation in Iraq the American troops face, however the story falls a bit flat in my opinion. Definitely save this one for rental.

Contrary to many critics, I didn't seee in this film a tentative to portray with fidelity the war in Iraq and his consequences. I mainly saw it as a Apocalypse now of the Iraq war, with deliberatly exagerated characters and a lot of violence and an artistic way of building the movie. They both serve the goal of denoncing an inhuman war.

Very good movie, makes use of a specific horrible incident to allow the viewers to feel what it is like for US soldiers who are kids themselves to be on duty in Iraq. Shows the inhumanity of war. A lot of emphasis on two very bad apples.

A story that needs to be told.

The acting was so horrendous that I couldn't appreciate the film for any of its other possible merits.
