This film has it all comedy drama and of course romance but it was really really bad it had no story line it was just some stupid girl falling in love with some really stupid (I mean incredibly stupid) guy I really really really really really really really hated this movie!!!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Wow, I can honestly say that I've never been more offended by a movie than I was with Woman On Top, not because of any controversial material, but because the movie went out of its way to insult my intelligence. Since the movie's essential plot could be covered within 5 minutes, the film decided to kill the clock with two lame, substance-less elements. The first is a series of testaments to Penelope Cruz's incredible beauty via cheesy magical occurences. Her cooking produces visible odours/fumes/whatever that permeate through a huge chunk of SanFrancisco, enchanting all men it comes accross. She walks by some drooping tulips on the street and they perk up. A bead of her sweat falls on a cut off rose in her shirt and it blossoms. For crying out loud, give me a break. This isn't supposed to be Fantasia. The second time filler element is her husband, some guy who looks like Eddie Guerrero, singing, mostly the same delicate, sappy song, for about twenty minutes total. Latino Heat's music attempts to lull you into a coma and forget about how pathetic the plot is, but it just made me groan in irritation. I did that as quietly as I could however, so as to not disturb the 5 other people in the theatre, including my friend who was smitten enough with Cruz to take me to this fecies fest in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I'm not an insensitive jerk who shuns all romance stories. For instance, I enjoyed High Fidelity very much. As long as there's some intelligence and originality applied to the tired theme of love I'll go along with it. But this movie's approach is so contrived, so corny, so schmaltzy, that I couldn't help being disgusted about what it was trying to put over me. And on top (ha ha) of everything else, half the cast is either one-dimensional or ineffective and the conclusion is unspeakably moronic. I'd give it more points for having the cute Cruz to look at while this diaster was unfolding, but since she's the reason I got dragged to this catastrophe in the first place, I am feeling rather merciless.

Wonderful movie. I saw it at the film festival. What is great about it, is that it does not take itself too seriously. Comedy and a bit of magic. Penelope is always wonderful to watch.

Woman On Top is a veru special movie, because shows how deep love can run on people. I enjoyed specially because it envolves the Brazilian culture, that makes the movie funny, and interesting.
