Really a surprising winner. I usually identify Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston with pretty light fluff, but this treatment of an endearing story has an edge that satisfies. It is quite a treat to see a film exploring a successful family unit that overcomes the pain, rejection and abandonment endemic to our culture. Marley is the constant element that ties it all together, and ends with a choke in the throat and a tear. Who hasn't lost a beloved pet who seemed more human than many who walk on two legs but who lack a heart? Wilson plays it straight with just an edge of whimsy that endears. Great film for kids and families seeking a romp, and for a first date. Everyone will relate to Marley the canine clown with a heart of gold.
