A brilliant movie! I had some doubts about it before I started to watch it (for I am not a film watcher) However, it was something compulsory and we have to write comments on Finding the Forrester for our Turkish lesson. What should I WRITE?

I loved Finding Forrester. It was an inspiration to a young writer, like myself. I enjoy are respect writing in all its forms, and Finding Forrester has been deemed me and my sister's favorite movie. I loved the film work and the rhyme at the beginning was hot! It was a whole new feel to cinematography as far as recent films (Spike Lee hasn't done much lately) I loved it!

This movie is one of the best I've seen so far. Unfortunately, some of the people allowed to write comments on this page are really shallow. They have missed the whole point of the movie and fail to grasp every message that the writer and director are trying to get across. Some compare this movie to "GOOD WILL HUNTING". I must say the story line is nowhere near the later. "Good will hunting" was about a bright dumb kid (yes, an oxymoron) who felt that he was to smart to bless people with his knowledge. This movie is about choices, a gifted kid has the choice to choose between two paths put before him. It is also about jealousy. An arrogant teacher who's dreams had slipped away because he failed to write a good novel was persecuting this kid for a gift he had received naturally. And finally this movie is also about honor and courage. William Forrester who is afraid of leaving his house and has not been out in years, finds the courage to get up and get out to go do the honorable thing which is to defend his protégé. All the people who gave this movie a bad score, are just jealous and racist! They just hate the fact that for the first time black people are being portrayed as intelligent and this kid is smarter and more cultivated than they are!

By far the best movie in theatres today, Finding Forrester is also one of my top ten movies of all time. You'll walk out of the movie in a good mood if you choose to go see it.

Yes I give 1 on 10. This movie is not good. If you want something light and sometimes funny, with no guns, see Chocolat, Wonder Boys or Erin Brockovitch. Those are worth seeing.

I found the movie very enjoyable. Easy going and funny at times. I could not picture anyone else but Sean Connery playing Forrester! He's perfect for this role!

It was a great movie, the best I have seen in a long time. Don't think Sean Connery has ever done a bad movie. I would go see it again and I have told friends not to miss it.

So what is this movie about? A black kid getting out of Bronx? Or maybe about writing? That too, but in my view there is more... We see that at some point in their lifes both characters are stuck - a young boy who doesn't know what to choose and an old man who just cannot let go of his past... Both seem to have lost their tune somewhere... So what to do next? Vegetate? Or what? And here comes writing - as a symbol. "You see, to start to write - you need to write". In the beginning perhaps you need to borrow a title or a paragraph from someone else, but you'll get it... Obviously, thanks to the novelist the kid realizes his talent. But the old man also borrows a couple of lines from the kid - he brings a ray of light into his gloomy, peopleless and a bit drunk reality (that's to forget... but the sorrows can swim... ) As a result - both get unstuck and can go on with their lives. OK but it is so easy to say "get unstuck and move on". Then when you sit down to your first draft and bite your pencil - nothing comes... you see, the first draft has to be written by your heart, not your mind. So stop complaining about the predictability, just go and feel it, OK?

Although the story borrows from Van Sant's earlier film Good Will Hunting, this is still an enjoyable film to watch. Both Connery's and Brown's performances help to raise this film above its cliched plot. The film, like Wonder Boys, is an inspirational film that will make you want to start writing by the end of it. Overall this is not a groundbreaking film by any means, yet it is still a good movie.

Very long and laborious, heavy-handed and ineffective tugging at the heart strings, completely predictable ending. Connery was good but hardly enough to carry this movie.

It just happened that I saw Good Will Hunting on video several days before seeing this one. I couldn't help laughing while at the movie theatre, that ridiculously similar the two movies are. The plot is totally unrealistic, the only thing that I did like was nice soundtrack from Miles Davis's Bitches Brew period. ;^)

This is one of the best films ever. It was thought provoking and intellectually inspiring. The story line was somewhat predictable, however, the excellent performances by Sean Connery and Rob Brown were worth the wait. It is a must see!

A highly enjoyable if somewhat derivative drama... Gus Van Sant sticks to familar territory a la "Good Will Hunting"... Hell, Matt Damon even makes a cameo... But it is, never-the-less, as well-acted as it is well crafted... Fabulous though formulaic!

Very good movie... A bit related to "Good Will Hunting (c the "clin d'oeil" when Matt Damon appears at the end), but the story's different. It's really touching... The young actor Rob Brown is good (and so is his bro' in the story, BUSTA RHYMES!!!!! ), and Sean Connery is as usual astounding!

I was surprised by just how good this movie was! It took it's time, and told a good story about the becoming of two unlikely friends. Alot of stereotypes in the supporting cast... but it makes the point clear in a "makes you think very little" sort of way.

Probably the worst, long drawn out, most boring movie I have seen this year. Usually, in situations like this I would say save your money and wait for the rental but in this case don't event rent it. The Charaters are weak, acting is fair (by Connery), story drags on with really no point and the overall picture did not entertain us in the least.

Those of you who loved 'Good Will Hunting' will enjoy this movie. Very good comeback for Connery and this Brown kid has a bright future ahead of him in hollywood. Most people with half a brain will like this movie, the others well... you know. Don't get me wrong, some people might not like it for valid reasons [...].

This movie is very very very god, excellent I would even say... Sean Connery, as usual, is awesome and Rob Brown delivers and great performance. Together they are great... I would say everyone should see this movie, definately Oscar material. Go see it now or you will regret it later... Sean Connery is the man!

Really amazing movie. Worth seeing with friends, family or girlfriend because it suits all moods, unless you'r blood thirsty! The acting is really great and the general idea of the movie itself is unique. One thing bothered me... I don't know if the writer does exist or not! I looked on the internet and found nothing, yet I want to read that book to see what he's all about!!
