I thought the beginning was boring but it got scarier. There are some parts that get really creepy and overall it's not a bad movie. I recommend it.

Soo, I had heard reviews about this movie from friends, and I looked into a trailer and got hooked!! I was super stoked cause everyone said it was just different, and the previews showed that. It's not your typical horror film, it's not a slasher, and it's not blood guts and gore, but damn can it scare you. I give this a 10 out of 10 for design, style and creep factor. I can totally agree with Teniz, gurl, who left a review on the 13th of november. If you're a guy and you got a gf, take her, if u got a girl into scary movies, take her. She will be wanting to sit in your lap by the end. Or heck, by the middle like mine was :)

Sooo stupid. No one has that much balls to open a door that is being banged on when you've just been woken out of a dead sleep by a demonic sound! Too much foreshadowing and VERY bad acting... not scared enough to believe it was genuine. I can see this scaring the hell out of my 13 year old daughter but come on!

Ok some people either just get this movie or the rest of you don't. It's one or the other. If you're going to criticize it maybe you should think that you just didn't get into it and leave it at that. Not hard to get it and be scared though. Loved it!

So, so, so scared. Not much scares me but the paranormal and this movie had me closing my eyes and peeking through my hands that were covering my face. I typically like being scared, but this movie really really affected me and I hated some of the realy intense suspenseful moments when I was terrified. Had a hard time sleeping afterwards that's for sure...

Friends and I went into it thinking we were about to see something TOTALLY freaky and scary (like the trailers and reviews said) but came out wondering if we had seen the same movie that everyone else had been seeing. It was okay, nothing great. Though in some spots (mostly ONLY the end) it was creepy but not scary. It was worth seeing if you rent it or see it at a friends house. Or better yet rent The Blair Witch Project instead of seeing Paranormal Activity in theaters.

Loved it... if you want to be scared this movie will do it. It's not tacky horror.. but "creaks" most of us think about... watched it on halloween but had to pause it cus I was too scared :(

There was so much hype about this movie I was expecting much better. I didn't have high expectations for a movie that cost less than $15,000 to make but something that at least had more to scare you with than what they showed in the previews. Even the ending!!! A handful of actual parts that made you feel the suspense, and everyone in the theatre, including ourselves, said out loud "that's it? " when the movie ended. Not even worth a rent in my opinion.

I think the movie was excellent, the fact that the people were real people and it was real footage for the most part not trained actors just made it scarier. The alternate "fake" ending made my heart race much more then the actual ending even knowing it was fake. Plus the ending was masterfully done so if you didnt know it was fake you never would have guessed it. I am glad I spent the money to go see it the first time and happily paid to see it again. Definitely a must see for anyone sensitive or looking for a thrill.

The producers give you exactly what they're selling: a Blair Witch-style filming of paranormal activity the builds in intensity during the film. If you don't buy into the premise, you won't enjoy the film. I liked the premise and I got exactly what I expected. So there's no need for so much cynicism in these reviews.

I think I already saw this movie ten years ago. Oh, yeah, it was called the Blair Witch Project. Instead of it being in the '90s it's a 2000's con-movie. Terrible 'acting'.

I have motion sickness... so I spent half my time watching this movie in the isle trying not to throw up. Even so, it was kind of slow. Although, they do use some really interesting ideas to scare you :)

After reading 50 comments or so, I came to a consensus that the peoples who loved it really loved it while the people who hated it either didn't give a reason why they hated or they took the opportunity to slam the peoples who loved it. Personnally, I'm one of those people who actually love it, yes I tend to agree that the beginning of the movie is a little slow but that was to be expected with this kind of movie. You have to set up the suspense really slowly to get the reaction you want to get by the end. This does everything right. It start spreading the notion that something paranormal is going on with something little like moving keys or a door closing and the more it goes on the bigger the situation is, that how a good paranormal horror movie works. So sure, for alot of people, this movie is garbage, but considering all the crap we got this year in the horror movie genre, I got to say while I wouldn't buy this movie on DVD, it's still one of the scariest movie of 2009.

Me and my friends went in thinking it was going to be so scary. It wasn't that scary at all, I didn't jump at this movie, but I really injoyed the part where the Demon pulls her out of bed and everything from that point on. If you like all paranormal happenings then I say go and see it.

I thought the movie wasn't very scary while it was playing, but it was when I got home that night and had to turn the lights off. It doesnt show much, but it really gets you thinking. Very good movie if you like being scared, if not. Still see it, just wait till it's in movie stores.

OMG! I almost cried at the end, it was AMAZING! Best suspense I've ever felt. I honestly feel like they're telling my story! It's insanely realistic. I can't believe they haven't found her body. That is terribly awful. I hope they have a sequel :) :)

Boring... I am the type of girl that gets scared from these kind of movies very easily and even I found myself yawning throughout the entire thing. Yes, the very very end (like last 5 mintes) gave me a bit of a jump but I left feeling like I had wasted my time... If you buy into all the hype, sure, maybe it could be somewhat disturbing to some viewers... But, don't forget, the 'Blair Witch' was apparently based on a true story too which was proven to be a complete hoax... Great job to the marketing team who turned this joke of a movie into a huge talked about horror event... My advice, don't waste your time or money the care bears will probably scare you more.

Ok so I hate scary movie... I always get freaked out... however, I wasn't too scared in this one, only screamed once, and covered my eyes for the last 5 minutes of the movie haha :P but believe meee... when u get to your own bed... o boy will u have things going through your mindd... and I feel sori for u that live in houses that are 2 stories high hahaha jeez :P my friend who is 19 actually slept with her mom that night cuz she was afraid to sleep alone, and my other friend, didn't even sleep at all the 1st night, she screamed at 5 am when she heard something going up her stairs... but it was only the cat lol :P anyway this would be a perfect movie if you're a guy to take a girl to because there is barely any blood, she'll be super close to u the whole time while watching the movie, and if you're lucky she mite ask u to stay the night at her place ;) just hope that she herself doesn't have any paranormal stories she has been forgetting to mention :P loll anyway I like it a lot, the aftermath is the part that really help u decide how scary the movie was... it felt so real...

Are these people serious 10/10 - obviously have no brains and are scared of their own shadow. I saw this on a screener from a friend on my own at night and even the end is lame. Slamming doors, noises, ooohhh I'm scared. 10/10, the scariest movie ever, please! The best part is when he asked her when she was going to tell himabout her demon - hilarious, top comedy :)

I'm a scary movie buff and this one scared the heck out of me. This is nothing like the boring Blair Witch Project which had absolutely nothing exciting or even disturbing. Paranormal Activity invites you into the home and allows you to experience what the homeowners experience. If you believe in poltergeists, spririts or demons, this is the movie to see. It even scared the wits out of my 29 yr old son!

I disagree with all those who said this was a boring movie. There is no boredom in this movie. True is not the usual horror movie and that is what makes it good. Sure disturbing cause the paranormal is disturbing. Creepy because they kept so real, you can easily get into the main character's position and be as horrified. This look like it could have been based on a true story. Best horror I've seen in years! (Even if I left the room felt followed)

I LOVED this movie. As for everyone saying that it sucked, you don't see anything, that is the point. If you saw this thing that haunted them, it wouldn't be half as scary. And the things that you DO see, and especially hear, make the movie. I wasn't very fond of the ending, because it took away from the mental fear, and the psychological aspect of how the entire movie was, but overall, it was very good. And it scared my sister and I, who are both horror movie fanatics.

The first half hour of the movie was rubbish. The last hour of the movie was good in the sense that you actually do feel the terror that this couple is experiencing. The moral of the story is this, ,," Do not start something if you do not have the knowledge to bring that activity to an end."
