I have seen this movie I like it I think it is awesome but if you are under the ages of 9 then you would probably have a really hard time following what the movie is about and wouldn't be a great movie in your opinion.

My husband and I both had trouble tracking this movie plot, with the time frame jumping forwards and backwards. You need to watch it closely, but not bad when all is said and done.

I found the plot confusing and very dull. No chemistry between the lead characters.

This looks like a great movie the only problem is there is many movies similar to this film.

It's a Hollywood number with Julia Roberts, which says a lot right there. Spy vs. Spy with, in my opinion, an unpredictable ending. Good laughs, good cast. Nothing new here, just a fun ride in the theatre. I found this movie very easy to follow unlike the dumb-dumbs that have no attention span and as a result gave it a 2 or 3 rating. Plain and simple; it was good.

Too complicated. I lost the thread of the plot near the end. What to say... different, but not terrible. A bit greasy perhaps. Maybe going for that old school cheer. The world is not a simple to understand and easy to consume product you can buy in fixed amounts and leave what you dont want. The film leans in that direction. We all exist close to chaos I suppose. Thats is just my opinion.

Dull plot, no chemistry between characters, I wanted to go to sleep.

The plot was awful. There were a few humorous parts but they didn't make up for how all over the place the movie was and how terrible the ending was. If you pay to see this movie you are making a huge mistake.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] The reviews here were not very good, but I decided to go anyway. And I was surprised! It's a cute movie, with some funny moments and good suspense. It was tough to follow, but it all clicks near the end. The ending is pretty unpredictable, too!! The movie is not extraordinary, but definitely worthwhile.

Many twists and turns. A modern approach to spy thrillers. Excellent!

Duplicity. I'm surprised at the other ratings here, I had a good time watching this movie and it made me laugh. A LOT. Really entertaining and the clever script made following the spy vs spy plot part of fun. Great acting by Roberts, Owen and Giamatti and the ending did not disappoint. Fun movie for the eyes (Giamatti's visual humour) and the ears (good script) and keeps your brain occupied.

It's actually a 6-7, but as other people here, I feel the need to balance the average out. I suppose it depends on what you want: a mindless, predictable movie, whose main claim to fame is noisy soundtrack and lots of special effects (that these days are really not that special), or a decent film (note the distinction) which will engage your brain at least a little, that will perhaps surprise you (it did not really surprise me, but I did get a chuckle out of the twists and the ending)? Do you go to movies to eat popcorn and drink junk, or do you go to the cinema so you can get lost in a well crafted story that will stay with you for a while as you relive bits and pieces and so extend the pleasure? (ok, I am a no-pop freak that actually loves silent films of yesteryear and will go see Hiroshima, mon amour or Last tango in Paris fifteen times; I also like Walz avec Bachir and Plages d'Agnes, so the above should not surprise you; but there is a difference between a coke and a Dom Perignon) P. S. My sentences are intentionally long. If you can't follow them, that you'll hate the film.

Read the reviews and was hoping they were wrong. Unfortunately - majority rules. Really liked the actors and story line but the movie just didn't cut it. Too confusing & really tried to follow it. Maybe a rental when nothing else available.

I love Clive Owen and Julia Roberts but this movie was a VERY BAD MISTAKE. The timeline will give you a headache and the plot flops.

Excellent chemistry between the two actors, very different set up from the "garbage" hollywood movies. I enjoyed it a lot... no wonder it is low rated, too smart and witty for the majority...

Duplicity? Try stupidity. Unneccesarily complicated and unbelievable. Plus, I felt no chemistry between Clive and Julia. Garbage movie!

The movie was so lame. There was no action whatsoever. 90 percent of the movie was people talking on celphones.

We tend to want the main characters to succeed in whatever goals they may have. However this movie went for another tangent which I appreciate however it still leaves you disappointed somehow.

Stunted acting, with some confusing snippets of the storyline played out of sequence. I think supposed to give the viewer a sense of the "whole" story, but in fact, more distracting than it was helpful. Can't exactly say that the actors slayed their roles... a disappointment.

This is an intelligent, old-styled mystery--complicated, clever, and witty. You can't be lazy when you watch it--which is why it's getting low reviews (blame the viewer, not the film) It's well worth seeing if you like an intelligent romp.

I love Clive Owen and Julia Roberts but this was poorly written, had boring material, no action imo, and it made the actors look like amateurs. It's not even rent worthy.

I Dont know how people write here thinking they are intelligent just cause they like the film!.. if you are intelligent you will not like this film and I don't think Clive and Julia are proud about it!!!.. wait for dvd, is better than wasting time watching this boring film on cinemas!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It was great, great, great!!! Too bad I missed the primiera in London, UK, since both of them were there. Great actors, great soundtrecks, great acting! I guess for a lot of people it is hard to follow, because they are used to straight forward, boring the hell out of mind hollywood style movies... God forbid it gets a little more complicated - it gets bad reviews right away. As for me... another proof of the fact that nothing is better than waking up in Rome... or pretty much anywhere in Europe for that matter :)

TERRIBLE MOVIE. The story line was just plain BAD. The acting was crap. The weirdest part... the switching back and forth between years. WHAT?! 14 months ago... 2 years later... 3 days before... 10 hours from thursday. TOO confusing and lame.

This movie was so boring and slightly confusing. You never really know what is going on and there are so many flashbacks a person hasa hard time following where the story is. Save your money not even worth renting on blu ray when it comes out.

Julia and Clive tried to make their own Ocean Eleven and failed miserably - both in the plot and the movie as a whole! My partner fell asleep and still figured it out... for those pretending to require a superior IQ to understand the film.

Surprised at the number of movies lately with great talent in them but the quality of the movie is so bad! We walked out of this one due to the repetitiveness and overall stupidity - no story line at all.

Everyone who gave this a low rating is just used to the typical Hollywood drivel. This film was a head above most films I've seen lately... smart, witty, great writing and decent acting. It's not hard to follow AT ALL unless you're a brainless monkey. Do yourself a favour - if you like smart, interesting, different films... go see this one. If you'd prefer to watch the latest clichéd load of Hollywood crap... go and see almost anything that is out right now.

Not a mindless movie. Makes you think. Witty and fun as well. Julia's lips are ariticially enhanced as some viewers thought. She has always had the shapeless think upper lip. She is not aging well. Clive Owen is completely hot. He'd make a better James Bond than Daniel Craig.

You do have to think while watching this film. It is not a mindless sit. Very well written, great dialogue which all eventually means something at the end. Lots of twists and turns. Great fun. Listen to all the dialogue closely, it all gives clues when you eventually figure it all out.

Who could not love this movie? Wilkinson and Giamatti alone during the opening credits was worth the price of admission, and it just gets better from there.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the bad reviews. I wish I had listened and saved my time and money. It kept my attention in the beginning but nearing the middle my friend and I were looking at one another wondering what just happened? Oh ya... we went back a few months again... who would know? In the end we cheered for it being done and over with. As for intelligence? I don't think either my friend or I were just kicked off the turnip truck.

pmiller4@ - age: 36-49
This movie justifies my opinion that Julia Roberts should never have been awarded an Oscar. Not only was she wrong for the part, her chemically enhanced lips made her look old. Clive was pretty good but the content couldn't live up to his acting abilities or the hype about this bomb.

Well, I enjoyed the music, actors and their performances so much that it didn't even bother me that I couldn't catch up on what this movie was really about, until its end:) I consider my time well spent.

You people are nuts, this is a drama/comedy - not action adventure - please rate it as such. ie. It's not Stallone or Schwartzzeneger, but it's not billed as such either. If you don't want to go to a mentally engaging, well written, decently acted movie, don't go. This is such a movie - not the best movie ever, but engaging and fun - with a dry sense of humor that underlies everything.
