Blessed Is the Match tells the story of the life and death of Hannah Senesh, a young woman in Palestine who joined a mission to rescue Jews in her native Hungary, and was captured, tortured and executed by the Nazis. The film tells the story through the eyes of her mother Catherine, a witness to the entire ordeal.
From an opening scene, in which mother and daughter are thrown together in a Nazi interrogation room, Blessed Is the Match takes the viewer on a harrowing journey from Hannah's incarceration alongside her mother, to her trial at the hands of the Arrow-Cross Nazis, and finally to her execution by a fleeing Nazi officer -- even as her mother waited nearby in his office, completely unaware of her daughter's fate.
