While the story penetrates as very deep, beautiful and heart-breaking, the nudity of child Brooke Sheilds turned me off. Admittingly, a story about prostitution may find it necessary to reveal nudity for realism, yet a child should not be revealed nude in a sexual scene in any circumstance. Any. It cheapened the film into something pornographic and even the male lead into being ever so hard to like. This film should be inexessible to anyone under the age of the majority as you would for any other film containing nudity.

I fell for this movie the same reason I fell for Anne Rice's Chronicles of the Mayfair Witches. Mona fascinated me in the same way. The young girl with such ambition that works toward something she doesn't even recognize, the confusion of the poor man, trying to wrestle right and wrong. Its so poetic. And, of course, the acting is superb.
