I have seen this movie 10-12 times in my life and have never got tired of seeing. Perfect in every aspect, my #2 all time favorite movie.

A great masterpiece even by todays standards. With cool headed acting by Humphrey Bogart, stunning Ingrid Bergman's acting and a good movie baseline.

The best movie ever made. There's nothing black and white about this film, just a thousand shades of gray. Each character grows and changes as events overtake them. The movie has everything - romance, suspense, drama, humour, great flawed characters and sharp dialogue. The acting by the entire cast is note perfect, as is the score. The cinematography captures and echoes those thousand shades of gray of the plot and the characters.

Saw it first while in service during World War II and many times since. At that time it reinforced the reasons for fighting and continues to inspire and entertain me. One of the best, if not very best films Hollywood has offered. It has heart, mind and romance tied up in one bundle.

Casablanca is the all time classic it has all of the requirement to make a great movie. It has music, action {placed during WW2}, romance, drama, comedy. Many peoploe do not enjoy watching a movie that is in Black and White but this movie would not be great if it was in colour.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Casablanca can be described in one word: MASTERPIECE. This is one of my three all-time favorite movies along with "The Godfather" and "Gladiator". It has everything an amazing movie should have: an incredibly well-structured and fast-paced plot seasoned with romance (not the corny crap we see today, but an accurate depiction of love and despair), history, and excellent characters. In fact, the characters are some of the best I've ever seen. Rick (Humphrey Bogart) isn't the typical James-Bond-type hero/saint; he is a man struggling with himself, having to choose what is more important: the love of his married ex-girlfriend, Ilsa, or the lives of thousands of innocent people suffering under the Third Reich whose lives he can save if he overcomes his jealousy and helps Ilsa's husband, a French Resistance leader, flee to America with some stolen passports he possesses. Ilsa is also a character suffering an inner conflict: she loves her husband and embraces his cause but still can't seem to get over Rick. Other characters, including a neurotic French police prefect and a ruthless German major, are also memorable. Many imbeciles say that this movie is too old and too boring. Nothing can be more wrong. This movie is incredibly fast-paced for an old movie, way better than other "slow-moving" classics such as "The Maltese Falcon" and "Gone With The Wind". If you have half a brain and don't suffer from hyperactivity, this movie WILL interest you. RENT IT NOW!!!

Good movie, nice twist of music and scenes. I was wondering if anyone has some sort of character description of how rick changes throughout the movie, or where I can find one. If anyone does, please send me it. Rick is a really changing character, and he is probably the most dynamic in the movie.

I loved this movie because it wasn't a tipical love story. These days all movies with a love story, the guy always gets the girl, but Bogart's character loved Bergman's character so much that he sent her to do what would be best for her.

One of my three all time favourites. Bogart plays a man's man. Bergman is gorgeous and her character is complex enough that after watching this a dozen times I'm still not sure which man she wants to be with. This movies paints shades of grey, the good guys aren't saints, and I like my heroes a little dirty.

"Casablanca" is a movie that transcends the decades. Surpurb direction, acting, plot, and most of all dialogue. Bogart and Rains have this unique friendship, and you are simply drawn into their screen persona. It offers intrigue, action and romance like no other movie ever made!!

A truly wonderful movie that I watch every so often to remind me how great the old movies are. I never tire of seeing this classic and I think young people would really enjoy this one.

Well, it doesn't get much better than this all-time great classic. If one, such as the individual above, fell asleep, I would say it says a great deal about their attention span. Story, characters you can invest in, tremendous music score, and Bogart and Bergman... I'd love to see this on a proper, full-scale movie screen, but repeated viewing on tv will have to do... What's more amazing is the behind-the-scenes story of Casablance being written by the seat of the pants writers, with daily dialogue and plot changes for the actors... it really stands out as a cinematic gem for all ages...

This movie is frequently refrred to as "Everybody's favorite movie". It certainly is mine. A great story, a great cast and great music. A classic that has endured all these years.

This movie explains why I have trouble with men, Bogart is ideal to me. See? It's hopeless, I'm afraid. This is a desperately romantic movie that brings me to tears every time... A kiss isn't just a kiss... On everything else, we agree.

Great movie, no doubt. I love the music. It brings me to the scene, the romantic yet hreat-breaking story. I cannot understand why Rick would let Elsa go, if she's the only woman he cared. There's something you can never grasp in Rick. What desperate, sexual character! I love him!!

Sorry, but when I saw this movie had six votes, all giving it a ten, I had to jump in. Maybe I shouldn't because, in all fairness, I've never seen the movie... Not the whole movie, all at once, at any rate. I tried on two occasions but fell asleep both times! This movie is BORING!! I'll never understand why so many consider it a great movie. I don't consider it to be even a good movie.

This is the ultimate love story, that many have tried to copy, but still stands alone in its magnificence. The story, the characters and the patriotism carry you away to this far-away place, and puts you in the centre of the tension-filled bar where Rick finds out what character he really has. The photography and use of shadows will haunt you forever. THE classic.

I have seen hundreds of "old" movies, and Casablanca at least 15 times. I never grow tired of it. It`s not for nothing the critics almost unanimously hail it as the best movie ever.

Truly a great classic. Bergman and Bogert have such tension and chemistry. You can get swept away in this movie easily. Set during the second world war Rick and Ilsa try to sort out their ever changing lives.

One of the best films ever made. A musical score by Max Steiner which could never be duplicated by any film composer now living and the sheer magic of the cast make it an unforgettable experience.
