Although the themes are familiar and somewhat cliched, there is a realistic and engaging tone to the story, and very fine ensemble work. See the "Gab and Dad" review on YouTube!

It is a measure of the success of 20 years of psychotherapy that I could watch this film and not cringe... like coming upon a dysfunctional family in a car wreck, discovering its your own family, calling the ambulance then just walking on. Many of us who survived this type of suburban chaos can appreciate the Lyme Disease/Psychosis metaphor. Sometimes the first step toward liberation is separation.

Cast is OK; part of story is weird. Language a bit much since it never varied. Should get their vocabulary beyond the letter "f".

A great film about difficult and challenged families. Lyme Disease is very debilitating and crippling to the mind and body. Reminds me of many families that fight and argue constantly; how it takes its toll on the children and the whole family.

A very powerful film about how families cope with life's daily obstacles. These families are challenged to begin with and they offer up a very true to life portrayal. Lyme disease/Chronic fatigue syndrome are very similiar--and people do indeed go bonkers from them. I could therefore understand the ending.

An excellent portrayal of how chronic illness adds a heavy burden to family life. Anything chronic complicates things X 10. Alec Balwin is gives a great performance.

I loved the story about dysfunctional families and how they cope with day-to-day life. I found it very realistic and gutsy. Life is plagued with all kinds of difficulties and obstacles--and this film make a good attempt to show us how two families deal with life's struggles. Overall, a good little film.

Timothy Hutton is brilliant, and that’s pretty much the only good thing I can say about this movie. Everything else is completely unoriginal, and I’ve seen it a million times before. Yea... we get it... the suburbs are a bore... zzz... teenagers run amok while their parents swap partners... zzz. Rent The Ice Storm instead.

Very realistic film! I enjoyed it immensely as did the wife. Very thought-provoking and makes us re-think our outdated ideas about Chronic Lyme and all chronic diseases. Obviously, they affect our actions and behaviors. I loved the ending and found it very fitting.

I really enjoyed this film. It reminded me a lot about my friend's parents who fought constantly and cheated on each other and thought nothing of it and the effect it was having on the children. The children all got messed up with drugs, sex and booze... great insightful little gem of a film here. GREAT FLIC!

This is a little gem of a movie that is not the typical Hollywood dribble. Jill H. From Crossing Jordan and Law & Order tv fame is not too bad as a movie actress. She's not amazing, but not too shabby either. It's not an Oscar flic but entertaining and has its precious moments. I undertsand what Lyme is bcuz my Dad had it and the ending for me is very realistic.

What a treat to watch this movie! I wouldn't say it is a comedy but a drama really about two crazy families with a lot of troubles that are real and accurate in society today. I noticed that sexuality among teens is also portrayed very well--friends with benefits... as they say...

I loved this movie! Great cast, great acting, great little story of a wacky family and their friend's wackier family. Alec Baldwin and Tim Hutton are terrific. I loved the description of Lyme Disease as a "perpetual LSD trip." That is right on target. I recommend it highly for those who are interested in really dysfunctional families (nutty and fruity)and those who have no FLIPPIN' clue what chronic Lyme Disease is and how terrible it is to live with and recuperate from it. It will certainly open your eyes about the topics I explained above.

A family drama based on two families with an ending that I did NOT expect. Great overall acting from the entire cast, especially Emma Roberts, Rory and Kieran Culkin. A worthwhile movie to see!

Forget American Beauty or any other film of its lik. Lymelife does for Dysfunctional families what Scorsese did for the mob in goodfellas. An ultra realistic view of a society crumbling. Although this film has many many laughs, it's subject is handled with care and without preachy judgement. It is truly exceptional and a must see by all means.

If you liked and or loved American Beauty, best picture of the year in 1999 or 2000, then this movie is right up your alley. Alec Baldwin and Jill Hennessey along with the rest of the cast make this a memorable movie going event where the angst of a disfunctional community comes to light and its just rewards or not. Lots to think about and for everyone. Enjoy!

Captures the angst and anxiety of Generation X first society-wide experience of the Swinging 70s' adultery and divorce... Compelling and poignant!
