Benecio Del Toro is "CHE" and what an amazing job he does in his portrayal of him. Steven Soderberg's biopic about the Latin revolutionary that helped topple Cuba and bring Fidel Castro to power is shot with extremely accurate historic precision. There is obviously no messing with history. It is what it is, and this film brings you as close as you are going to get to guerrilla warfare in the jungles of Cuba before the take over. This film also helps to dispel America's propaganda machine by bringing some truth to light in relation to who Ernesto CHE Guevera really was and what his fight was about. The revolutionaries were never against the American people, but against the hypocrisy that the American government claimed to be when they touted democracy as the "only way" and yet mistreated it's own people who were living in slums as well as treating African Americans as second class citizens until the civil rights movement came rolling in by the early 60s. Because American imperialism also indirectly ruled Cuba with Battista in the role of democratic leader, the Cuban people suffered in the same way. Che Guevera and Fidel Castro found it a necessity to give Latinos their own identity and not be ruled by hypocritical America in 50s. Although the Cuban people welcomed Fidel and Che with open arms, the people of South America were a little more fearful and reluctant of change thereby helping to bring Che to his destined end when he was captured in the jungles of Bolivia. This movie is 4 hours and 17 minutes long and worth every penny. Viva la “DEMOCRACIA”… as long as it's for everyone!
