This movie was disappointing, both in its look (was his tripod stuck in one position?) and in its depth -the characters were unlikable, shallow and never seemed to grow. They weren't even funny.

This was worth seeing - a well-acted, realistic, modern look at commitment and marriage. While it's not really a comedy, there were some scenes where you had to laugh out loud because you could see your own relationship on the screen.

The writing in this film is excellent! Sweeney crafts a script that is full of substance and darkly funny. The stellar cast, which includes Benjamin Ratner and Molly Parker (Kissed, Center of the World), do an outstanding job in timing the comedic notes perfectly. Similar in theme to Neil Labute's ''Your Friends and Neighbors,'' Sweeney's comedy follows three couples as they encounter problems in their relationships. To giveaway anything more away would be a crime. I will say that Sweeney takes an interesting approach when is comes to the battle of the sexes. Unlike the majority of films nowadays, Sweeney makes the women in the film much stronger than the men (both mentally and physically). The Last Wedding is one of the finest films to come out of Canada this year, both the writing and the acting are exceptionally good. -CS.
