This show is excellent I really enjoyed seeing it a very original movie and one that has inspired quite a few sequels Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator, and Alien vs. Predator Requiem. Allot of action, good acting, and a unique well thought out plot that was directed perfectly. Excellent movie.

I thought it was a very suspenseful movie. There are a lot of disturbing and scary parts in this movie. It also created one of the most terrifying and frightening villains in cinematic history: Alien.

This is without a doubt the most frightening movie I have ever seen. I practically soiled my pants when I first saw this movie in it's first run in the theaters even though I missed much of it's visuals because I was covering my eyes with my hands. Utterly groundbreaking, this movie made milestones with breaking women into getting action roles. Ridley Scott is an auteur of the highest order.

Alien is a fun movie and a triumph towards the si-fi genre but it cant compete with its sequel Aliens.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Awesome movie. The musical score in it makes it really tense, even when there is nothing to be afraid of (like in the opening scene) Note how one guy puts down a flamethrower, climbs down a ladder without it, and magically has it again.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I just rewatched this last night! This is still the 2nd scariest movie I've ever seen. When my Dad saw it in the 70's, I've been told he didn't sleep for two nights. The movie is near-perfect. The director's cut is very good too. Ridley Scott has never been able to redo another masterpiece after this one. Talk about an incredible cast! Besides Weaver and Skeritt, the top-notch ensemble includes two of Britain's best actors -- Ian "Bilbo" Holm, as the untrustworthy science officer, and John Hurt. The movie still looks amazing too. Almost like a new film. It's the most incredible gradual raise of tension and sense of menace that I've ever seen on the big screen. I was so lucky that it was rereleased on the big screen a few years ago. A great film that upsets your mind and stomach at the same time. At the premiere, one of the ushers passed out when the chestburster emerges! That's Exorcist-level cool. I never thought that a haunted house movie in space would be considered a masterpiece but, well, there you have it.

YOu know what even as I lookl at it today, I know that the machinery is out of date and that the movie set would have been so much nicer if it were redone now (hint hint) but you can only appreciate what the alien movies have done in 1980's. These are well-done movies that do not deceive. Sigourney Weaver is always great in the part.

Terrifying and suspenseful. Great special effects. I'll never forget the alien ripping through John Hurt's stomach and the blood splattering all over Veronica Cartright.

Great movie, with great atmosphere, artistic and coherent. The succesion of frames, together with the slow growing tension make an impression of art exhibition.

I loved seeing this movie on the big screen... I missed back when it first came out and had to settle for television, BUT it's always been one of my favourite movies and it's great to see it getting attention again.

Amazing to see the movie on a big screen, finaly!!! The terror that brings the characters into a moment of pur fright and confusion, is terrifically interpreted. (masterfull) It will stay a scary movie, even after 23 years. There is one thing, the extended scenes do not bring any thing interesting, they just don't fit.

"Alien" was really good. I saw it on VHS and I rated it a 9/10. I also believe that it will be a 10/10 on the big screen.

Breathtaking remake of the 1958 Sci-Fi classic "It! The Terror from Beyond Space". Probably the most impressive design of an extraterrestrial morphology (by artist HR Giger) and one of Jerry Goldsmith's best soundtrack (and that is saying something) help contributes to the creation of a science-fiction work of art that stood the test of time (like none of today's subpar movies ever will) Product of a great decade in film history (the 70's), ALIEN remains king amongst all of it's inferior sequels (even the very entertaining, if somewhat artitically shallow Aliens, which will come back to theaters next spring)

Alien stays a masterpiece of science fiction and horror movie. It is too cool for people that have never had the chance to see it on big screen before. Don't miss the chance that is given to you!! You have to see this movie.

It's a damned good movie, primarily because of the involvement of H. R. Giger. Without him, this would have been mediocre. The story is good too. The value of emotions to the survival of our species is questioned, in an interesting way. Would we be better off if we were hungrier, and more warlike, like the alien in this movie? Or is that why "mother" is wrong? The sequel is good as well, and is as close to R. A. Heinlein as Hollywood has ever gotten.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Nostromo, the name of the futuristic commercial freight spaceship in "Alien" is the title of a Joseph Conrad novel, and is Italian for "our man, " the hero who is the reliable agent in charge of a European enterprise in a Latin American country whose silver deposits have attracted foreign investors. The space vessel is guided by a super computer called "Mother, " which supposedly is "maternally" protective to the crew of seven. When Mother proposes an investigation of some kind of incubation in an unfamiliar planetary location, the theme of the unnatural "mother" from Hell that devours its adopted children becomes shockingly apparent. Sigourney Weaver as Ripley (Ridley?) plays the truly motherly figure who struggles for self-preservation of the species. Her first major role, unforgettable.

Outstanding film exploring the nature of humans and the commercialization of space. A definite must see for film lovers. Great direction, great acting and great script. Oh, it's us who are scary, not the alien.

Definitely a great sci-fi flick that will require a pair of Depends, but not the claustrophobic, terrifying masterpiece which is its sequel-requiring-the entire box of Depends- 'Aliens'... to this day I have never seen a line so long at the men's washroom after a movie...
