[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] The Matrix concept is fantastic. I can imagine many more ways of expanding on it than this over-hyped Keanu/Carrie romance story did. Reeves cannot act. He is just a pretty face that is so expressionless throughout the film, one must conclude that he either cannot emote or he is afraid to wrinkle his $30 million-per-film countenance. Moss is not far behind but is a much better actor. Apart from the special effects, which are admittedly dazzling and cutting-edge, the picture lacks pizzaz. Apart from its romantic subplot (complete with nude love scene) it's nothing more than a fancy martial arts film. It's soooo reminiscent of other films in its class, namely Crouching Tiger and the current crop of Star Wars (let's see... Neo is "The One"... Anikin is "The Chosen One"... ummmm... everyone's jumping around and fighting each other in slooooooooow motion... and on and on and on) It's almost as if each new Hollywood action offering is just a continuation of the same long film anyway. I always stay for the closing credits out of respect for the unseen makers of the film and I actually try to read them but they tend to run-by too quickly. There would have to be around 1000 people who worked hard in the two years it took to create this film. I salut each one of them. It certainly is a technical masterpiece and will have raised the bar a notch or two -- let's see if Lucas' ILM can beat it next time around. By the way, if you stick around for the credits, you'll see a preview for Matrix Revolutions (Part III) YES, Reloaded does not end. It's a cliff-hanger. The last scene says, "To be concluded". What?!? Do they mean 2 years from now? What are the producers thinking? I really hate that! I'll close by saying I actually dozed off twice within the first half hour. It's worth seeing despite what I said, but don't get your hopes up. I thought the first Matrix was much better.
