It's a complex movie about father/daughter relationships. While the daughters lovingly and respectfully free themselves of their father's ties to seek their own lives, the father seems to regress to a state where he will again become the all-knowing, wise patriarch. While it's good to see him regaining his interest in life (and, with a not-very-subtle symoblism, his taste), there's nothing that indicates a real change in his need to dominate the women in his life.

Saw video today. Loved it and remembered the original of Ang Lee but don't remember the name. It was wonderful.

This spicy version of Eat Drink Man Woman puts a south of the border twist on the Far East hit. It is a beautiful story for anyone that wishes they could have told their Papa how much they loved him. And for those of us that don't know how, pop this gem in the DVD and let it do the talking... but don't forget to pack a lunch, and whatever you do... dont watch this on an empty stomache!

Great family movie! Shows the value of family and the love that a father has for his 3 daughters.
