I don't understand why so many people hate this film. Many said the story about a retired old man didn't go anywhere and made them bored as hell. Well, it's indeed a story about an retired man, but it's not boring at all! Many questions are brought up in the film. Jack Nicholson's performance is superb here! He has portrayed many rebellious characters in the past, and in this film, he is an old man who tries to rebel in the dawn of his boring life. He tries to stop his daughter from marrying a guy he hates, and at the end, he doesn't have the gut to oppose the marriage when he speaks in the wedding party. In the end of the film, he rebels nothing, his life remains boring, but at least he has changed the life of Ndugo!
