Excellent acting, gripping plot, intense subject matter, sexy as hell. Go see it... seriously.

One of my favorites. Hard to explain why it resonated with me. Delves deep into the human psyche, and how our socialization affects our mental health. I was fascinated and glued to my seat the whole time. Not for the mainstream movie viewer, for sure. Maggie Gyllenhall deserved an Oscar for this role.

What a kinky romance! This is a great story, showing understanding, as the characters struggle to understand themselves and each other.

Definitely a film made for Spader... he likes these strange ones. I love it! Quirky and entertaining in a weird sexy way. Discovered a lot about myself.. *big grin*.

Great story, great acting, a wonderful film. Funny but also very true while full of fatasy.

Love comes in many forms. Its definition is very personal. This movie demonstrates this fact by showing us one of the many facets of love.

What a strange quirky little movie. It has a surreal edge to it that tends to make the characters caricatures, and yet they emerge from it to become understandable, flawed human beings who need to love and be loved, albeit in a style that is definitely not Ozzie and Harriet Cleaver. The need to dominate and to be dominated, to receive and inflict pain in a relationship is the crux of the Lee and E. Edward's relationship. They seem confused and embarrassed, even ashamed of these feelings and watching them struggle to accept themselves and recognise their need and love for each other becomes compelling. I stumbled on this movie accidentally and I'm glad I did.

At first I was afraid it wouldn't be a interesting movie. But it got better and better to the end. Finally a movie that gives a positive light to SM.

A very original script with an entertaining view of S&M. Wonder what they had to do to research it?
