I enjoyed seeing this movie because it had substance. It has a good story line and the historical events are important to remember.

What is in the breadth and depth of the human soul? This is a film that should be re-released to the movie-going public on the big screen to help keep alive the self-examination that should take place within us to help mankind realize what truly is important in our value system when we judge another human being. Truly an epic adventure into the murky realm of justice as a novice attorney begins a simple set of questions into a socially and morally challenging engagement with man's preconceptions of others. Needless to say, I liked it and know that anyone who watches it, will not be unchanged by it.

This is a very important piece of American history. It is a movie that is relevant in today's society in as much as what is going on with the middle east at this terrible time in history. Americans can learn a lot from the movie AMISTAD on how not to treat people. There is certainly a lesson here, that Americans can and MUST treat All people of different races and ethnic origins with dignity and respect. The words SHAME SHAME SHAME comes to mind. This is a deeply intense movie and made me feel deeply ashamed and saddened by the tragic cruelties that black people suffered at the hands of "supposedly" civilized human beings. As Americans this is a part of history NOT to be proud of.

This is one of the best description of slaves trade. The most relevant scene for me is the one where fifty slaves have been weighed down by rocks and thrown overboard to drown when provisions on the ship ran low..

Definitely the most moving movie I have ever seen. If this movie does not touch you in some way, you can not be a truly humane person. It was the best film I have ever seen on the topic of slavery and morality.

I saw the movie for several times and it touched my heart as if pierce with a dugger. I pitied the Africans. They were tortured and they were treated like animals. But the over all movie is Fantastic! That was another great job of Steven Spielberg! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

The most important person in the film is the interpreter because without him they could not understand each other (the africans and the americans).. so the interpreter must be recognized for his job is very important.

I thought the Amistad sent a very powerful message about just how horrificly the slaves were treated. I knew the american slave trade was bad but this movie was just disturbing and without a doubt got across the point the it was trying to perceive. Overall I thought it was an excellent movie that everyone should watch.

Amistad was dumb. Steven Spielberg is dumb too. I would never see this movie again, Terminator 2 is much better.

Great idea and great story done to put the viewer to sleep. Also making the characters out as saints takes away from the story.

Amistad showed how the slave trade was abolished and people continued to trade slaves. It also showed the president John C. Calhoun trying to persway Martin Van Buren to never let the slaves go free or the south wouldn't vote for him!

This was an excellent movie letting you see just how horrendous the slave buisness was. It was a very powerful movie with a message of hope.

I thought this movie was an excellent depiction of the struggle slaves went through in American history as well as the struggle between people who speak different languages. The movie captures the reality and cruelty of slave traders on their slaves. It raises the moral question of whether slaves are supposed to be thought of as property or people. It depicts the ability of men to connect with each other even though they have no ability to understand what the other is saying.
