Got a huge amount of enjoyment and lots of laughs. Love the Mummy-Ji("low blood pressure") Note, I am NOT Desi, just a regular movie-lover.

I really liked that movie! Rahul Khanna is so handsome! I also thought Go(Govind) was cool! The movie was a very hilarious movie, indeed! The producer& directors did a wonderful job!

THIS IS AN AMAZING MOVIE!!! Mehta did an incredible job! It must be very hard to make a movie that effectively blends two cultures that are so different, and still make it enjoyable to both cultures. However, Mehta pulled it off beautifully. Also, the songs were very good(I loved "Sona Sona Roop Hai" and "Rang Rang") The script was very funny, and the acting was great (perhaps it was a little overdone, but that made it funny, especially in Mausmi Chatterjee's case!)Overall, this was a great movie, and you should see it ASAP!

"Nothing is what it appears to be". I used to be under the impression that Bollywood was trying to be Hollywood. This movie brilliantly destroys that misconception by making you think it's trying to be Hollywood at first, and then suddenly twisting itself into full-on Bollywood. In a flash you realize how great Bollywood is, and that you have a Bollywood movie right in front of you to enjoy. The acting is amazing and there's some great songs and great dancing. This movie rocks.

Aiite everybody, this movie is sick! I don't watch indian movies @ all cuz in general, they suck and they ain't cool ta watch. I don't noe about any indian movie stars or directors or nething lyke dat, but I gotta sey, I loved this movie! And all you haters, stop hatin, you knoe you loved it. Tha gurl who was "twinky" in the movie was pretty and she seemed kewl, too. Lisa Ray is that one sue gurl in tha movie ryte? Well, iono why everyone on here is seyin how she's all pretty, cuz she isn't. On the other hand, most indian guys don't really appeal to meeh, but that one guy who was "govind" in the movie was pretty fione! Tha mom n grandma were hilarious! It made me feel better to knoe that my parents ain't that bad. This was actually a kewl indian movie (sumthin I never thot possible)and it was also very different from all tha stupid typically indian movies my parents like to watch (by the way, even they liked this movie!)I could definitely relate to it a lot, tho it was a little exaggerated. But whatever, it was dope!

I thought the movie was really good! The story line was different but still nice. Lisa Ray looked beautiful, Rahul Khanna was hot and Arjun Lombardi-Singh was hot too! Moushumi Chatterjee was pretty funny same with Dina Pathak. Jessica Pare was really ugly! All and all it was a good movie, but bollywood should stay with bollywood and hollywood should stay with hollywood! The songs in the movie weren't that good and the dancing was pretty bad! Bollywood movies are way better in my mind! But still a good movie! Good job Deepa!

This show has got to earn lots of credit. The songs, the cast, the plot needs recognition. It even deserves a thousand applaudes. The show is THE best indian associated hollywood movie. Deepa Mehta has got real talent and with the help of David Hamilton, you get a wonderful story. This story has got to be watched over and over again. The best thing is, you own't get sick of it.

This is a new era where, westerners and asians appreciate the custom and humor of the indians. By birth I'm a singaporean indian. In recent times, the multi-races in s'pore have appreciated nut cracking hilarious movies like the Guru and Bend it like Beckham. Yesterday, the no. S thronged to see another bollywood creation of fun and creativity. Unfortunately, the movie was a flop. It was disheartening to see half of the audience leaving the theatre half way thru the show. Apart from the philosophies, the scripts there had no charisma or expressions conveyed by the actors. So much so, the story was draggy n, I endured the movie till the end. The story line was not in depth about culture nor love, let alone the spice of laughter... It looked more like a extended drama series. No professionialism in video capturing or sequence. One of my chinese friend with a cynical smile told me that the film might have been produced to evade exhorbitant government tax. My personal notion is, if you can't do an indian proud in a international stage, at least don't put the indians to shame... my apologies if it was offensive...

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] For some unknown reason this movie seems to apeal to Indo-Canadians. One would think the low point of this movie is the apocryphal acting, but the attrocious direction ensures a slow torture of the senses if you choose to sit through the movie. The story is understandably crappy and bizzare, humor is bearable but not funny, the characters and scenes are disloyal to the general flow of the movie. The camera angles, lighting and shots are sub-marriage-video grade. The cuts and errors in general are outrageous - AVOID MOVIE IF YOU HAVE HEART CONDITION! Obvious example of errors - 1. When Lisa is buying a saree in that shop - too many cuts, no continuity; 2. When wrestler goes to marry Lisa - the veil on Lisa's head keeps magically going on and off her head. The only good thing about this movie is if Deepa Mehta can make such a blundering abomination of a movie and win fans and acclaim, then there is hope for us who want to become rich quickly.

This movie was well thought of, but the acting was sub-par and was an insult to hollywood films. Seeing that this film is filmed in Canada, and had no Hollywood aspects to it whatsoever. LOL. This movie I give a 2/5 Lisa Ray was HOT as hell in this movie. That's why I give it 2 in the first place.

Awful movie on the whole, although there were some entertaining moments. Deepa mehta does seem to have some sort of an anti-Sikh bias; whether she's portraying them as stuttering buffoons in lahore (Earth) or a prostitute from a jatt sikh family in Toronto.

Highly exaggerated dialogue and situations, and yes, full of hypocritical ideas and racism... this is true. But then, so are many people of all nationalities. Chances are that the girl who was "white", would be fully acceptable and welcomed into the family because she was fair skinned with light eyes. I bet this would not be so if she were black or from one of those far flung colonies where many Indian decendants are no longer considered "real" Indians because they don't speak the mother tongue. Lots of tribalism. The smaller storyline with the Sikh family living near the airport was the better one.

This movie was pretty goofy but entertaining. If you're not indian, you'll probably get the wrong message because you wont be able to filter out the good scenes from all the crap. Trust me, most indian families aren't as warped as these ones. But hey, it was nice to see Toronto in there anyways. Anyways, Indian Desi was way better. Much more realistic (even though the acting was just as bad) What the heck was with that cross-dressing transvestite anyways?
