This wondrous Spielberg creation, combining animation with real live action, making cartoon character Roger and the Roosevelt Era of the thirties a present day reality, is a fantastic detective story, with something of Polanski's "Chinatown." It proves that an insidious economic conspiracy ruined California, especially Hollywood. The characters are marvelous, extremely Romantic and crafted with comic ingenuity. Charles Fleischer as Roger Rabbit's voice is the soul of wild anarchic humor, infecting the seemingly stodgy Bob Hoskins who plays P. I. Eddy Valiant, in love with Joanna Cassidy as Dolores ("Blade Runner") Kathleen Turner is Jessica, Roger's magnificent wife, painted in the image of an incomparable woman and totally devoted to her funny bunny. And Chris Lloyd is evil personified. Toons live.
