User's review

Note first that this is state of the art 3D film. That's right, you are handed a neat pair of slightly heavy but optically excellent polarized 3D viewing glass that are big enough to fit over most corrective lenses. I've rarely seen this level of 3D quality. The sharpness, luminosity and stereoscopic balance are so good, you'd swear you were part of James Cameron's wonderful expedition. It is a MUST-SEE on this basis alone. This film is a National Geographic style hour-long documentary with a touch of drama here and there. It is filled with extra cinematic touches like multiple viewing angles, CGI overlays and dramatizations. I was spellbound, mesmerized and inspired by the beauty and magnificence of this effort and I intend on seeing it again. There is NO WAY such a film could be seen properly on anything other than IMAX. The only drawback to this thoroughly enjoyable film was Bill Paxton's incessant, facile excitement -- "Two thousand meters... wow, that's pretty deep"."I can't believe it. We're really here. This is the real thing. This is history... This is the legendary Titanic". After his third or fourth iteration, I just broke down and laughed which neatly spoiled some of the film's intended magic. It was as if he were mocking his own role in "Titanic". And why didn't Cameron mention that some of the bare-looking 'sets' were the result of looting from previous expeditions? Fortunately, he took nothing away from the site. But Don't let that stop you. Lewis Abernathy (fat, bearded guy with ponytail... remember him?) stole the show with his sincerity and level head. See this film! It is truly a rare cinematic experience.
