I think people equate "shock" to "power". They are not the same. Thom Fitzgerald is trying to shock the viewers with "The Wild Dogs", but a powerful film it is not. Fitzgerald's intention of making "Dogs" is more reactionary, in the way he portrayed Geordi's relationship between Victor's family and his boss. The parallel metaphoric story about the dog catcher hangs too thin on a wire to become an integral part of the film. Okay, Fitzgerald wants us to see that we, the "civilized" people are no better than dogs. Okay, okay, I got your point, but so what? The only thing this film shows instead, is that Thom Fitzgerald is an angry brat, because no one seemed to bother to stroke his inflated ego (especially his past producers) What he thinks is a rise to fame is just nothing but a bunch of hot air..

Hello, Did you ever heard about respect? This is not the "Litlle Paris" I know. Love Romania the way it is! Love her people and try to get to know them! But not from the living roomof your house-put your backpack and go to see how beautiful it is! Romania has more than 2000 years history [...] Lila.

It's horrible!!! How could someone create this movie? That is wrong, everything is wrong. Bucharest is beautiful, anyone who was there can say the same thing. Romania is a great country and people are nice. Shame on the producer!!! Not only in Romania there are people who get drogs and wild dogs walk on the street? I know Canada has their own specimens! Shame on you! You shouldn't judge a nation like this, you are not the man for this job!!

This is not the real life in Bucharest, shame on you, the worse movie I've ever seen. I could write more, but I do not want to waste my time. Shame on the producer of this movie, Romania and Bucharest are more than such a movie. Come and visit it and we'll talk. Maybe it is not the perfect pace in the world but there are so many wonderful places to visit. Try to read the article made by CNN about Romania, it is much closer to reality.

My favorite Canadian movie of the year!! As a junior high teacher in Calgary, Alberta, I often promote Canadian films which I would imagine very few do!! What a shame!! So much to learn from this movie. When will one be able to purchase this film?

It is rare that a frames in a movie stay glued to my mind the way that so many did from the Wild Dogs. So powerful are the story lines, the characters felt like friends. I imagine that sometime in the future I will tell one of the stories thinking that they happened to a friend of mine. Proud to be Canadian.

What else can I add? Every one else has said it. Great Canadian film, my only criticism is did the Director need to used so many cripples and midgets to make his point?

Powerful, and shocking to someone who has had a comparatively sheltered life. I was shaken AND stirred.

Outstanding cinematographic performance and remarkable perception of the Romanian "spleen". A great movie about slavery at all levels, ranging from real slavery - that comes as a shock to the 21st century spectator - to more subtle levels, where people are entangled in their own networks of slavery that make them all miserable. Whether they are slaves of an outrageous employer (like the photographer or the dog-catcher), of their loneliness within wedlock or even of their own body limitations, there is not one single happy person in the movie. That makes you think beyond the geographical boundaries of the country which serves as a setting. Most people wrongfully interpreted the film in a concrete way, as an exposure of a former communist country's outrageous problems. I found that the director very subtly transgressed those limits and showed the country's miseries as a catalyst in bringing out the worst or the best in peoples minds and souls, which is what critical times can do to a society. I was suprised that the producers ventured to show this movie to a North-American public whose taste is spoiled by romances and glamorous SF or spy movies.

Actually, I was disapointed. I felt that the film could have been a much more powerful piece without the over the top cloying musical score. I also felt the story line had a few weak elements. However, a very beautiful film with though (I thought) overdone drama, a definite eye opener to how a part of the world lives. Yes, it is unfortunate that the theatre was almost empty. And, albeit the "problem parts" I would most definitely recomend this film over the numerous bits of trash they shlep out from over yonder in Tinsel Town.

I have been reading a lot about human suffering around world and I found the only way that I can help them is to use camera to make a movie about it so that we at least don't forget them. This movie shows me how important it is for us to remember them and encourages me to continue my idea till one day I will be able to show it to the world and I wish more people would care for them. Unfortunatelly there are only 4 people in the entire theatre watching this fantastic movie. Most people are more attracted to the actions or special effects nowadays.

The best movie I have seen this year. Deserves an oscar. An emotionally wrenching and passionate expose of the lives of a group of people living in a part of the world we in North America never think much about. The charm of the "actors" drawn from the streets of Bucharest comes through to touch you in a genuine way. An excellent eye-opening education.

The most amazing movie I have seen this year. Thom has truly matured as a director since his first hit film (I) The Hanging Garden (/I) The movie juxtaposes the innocent street dogs of Bucharest with the city's exploited inhabitants. It is heart-wrenching in the deepest way, and a delight for a film-lover. Yet it is not for the faint at heart; anyone under 19 should probably refrain from seeing the work, due to unusually graphic scenes.
