[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] The people in Hollywood seem to think the average movie goer is a moron. If you go by this movie the US Civil War must have been fought in Afghanistan as it took the Hero what seemed like years and years to return from it. I kept hoping he'd die somewhere along the way so the movie could end, but alas it was not to be, we had to wait till the very end of a gruelling boring movie for that to happen. It's movies like this that beg the question why? Why? Why? Why bother making this movie?

This movie was lame. Too bad because the English Patient was a masterpiece. Very violent - unnecessarily, the scene when Jude Law and Nicole Kidman finally have one night together is laughable and Rene Zelwegger's role is just a lame caricature.

I saw this movie a while ago and it is a pretty scenic movie. I am suprised that it did not win Best Picture (Oscars) The tale is obviously romantic and tragic but that is the truth of war. Innocent people died, war profiteering took place (it continues to this day), families were torn apart by idealogy, tortuous acts commited by both sides on civilians and women. Keep in mind that this was a period before the Geneva convention, which stated the rules of war. (Not that Geneva convention matters to rouge nations in present day wars) The one thing I would point out about the title is that "Cold Mountain" was pretty "warm" when it came to Law and Kidman on their final night togethor. Great movie.

I put off seeing this movie in the theater and waited to see it now... on dvd. I'm glad I did. I would have been a mess with tears had I watched it on the big screen. It was a tad slow moving in places but I appreciated the intense details and little things that might go unnoticed by most but made up for being a great movie. It had a wonderful romantic but sad story line to it. I'm sure it gave a fairly realistic picture of what it was like back then... thank God we live in the time we do... (I think? ) It's not just a chick flick... it's a good all 'round movie.

I really liked the love story between Ada and Inman. It's hard to see the kinds of trials those people went through during the war. The lose of life is disturbing, it really makes me grateful for those people who fight to keep us safe and free.

Cold Mountain wonderfully directed by Anthony Minghella and wonderfully acted by Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zelwegger is a great movie that shows us that although the two main characters Ada and Inman were far away from each other, they managed to hold onto true love from the start to the end of the war. Great movie! See it now and you won't be disappointed! Guaranteed!

A very good movie. I don't know the last time I saw a romantic movie this good. Not that I ever go out of my way to see one. Great roles by Zellweger and Portman!
