Frenchman Henri Boulanger (in a brilliant comedic performance by Jean Pierre Leaud - best known for his work with Francois Truffaut ) is let go after a fifteen year career in a waterworks company. Depressed and melancholy he considers suicide but lacking the courage he decides to hire a hit man to do the same job. But his life changes when he meets a flower girl and falls in love. Unfortunately he has trouble stopping the contract killer.
