I know it was difficult to watch, but it was a realistic depiction of the torture Jesus suffered in the last 12 hours of his death. Like or not you were were watching history. I am no biblical scholar, but if you believe in the four gospels and other sources, it is a very believable account. If you found the treatment of the Rabbi leaders nasty, what about the Romans who would have whipped him to death. And the crowd hurling insults and enjoying him suffer, the same crowd who welcomed his arrival 5 days before. This movie was not an affront to those who are Jewish, it was a comment against the corruptness, cruelty and cowardice of humanity. (By the way, the man who was forced to carry the cross and by the end willingly carried the cross with Jesus was Jewish. ) There have always been some leaders in many religions who worship power. The penalty for those who remain true to themselves have always been severe. That's because a person with radical beliefs of peace and love are the most dangerous people around. After all, we don't want to love everybody. We only want to love who we choose. Whether you believe in Jesus, Buddha, or are an atheist we have a responsibility to love each other unconditionally. It seems when someone pubicly expouses peace and harmony, we scoff them. I can tell you the majority of us would be behaving like the crowd during this period of time in this visual biblical account of Jesus's life. Things have not improved with humanity. We live in a world where some individuals practised poor judgement enough to consider a militaristic leader for the Nobel Peace Prize (George Bush), instead of someone like Gandhi or Mandella. There is still hatred, strife and injustice all over the world, even in Canada. Go see the movie whether your religious, spiritual or not. It reminds us the price that that Christ paid for humanity.
