Can zombies survive under water? I wouldn't want a zombie apocalypse, but I would like to see how long I could survive. I bet I could do better than these fools. I also think I would make an above average zombie once I got caught.

I really liked the first Dawn of the Dead so when I heard it was being remade I thought one thing I gotta go check it out and I did I wasn't disappointed it was fantastic. I especially liked Ving Rhames from those Mission Impossible movies as Kenneth he was fantastic I would recommend this film to action fans, zombie fans, and horror fans alike. Go see it or buy it either way check it out.

This movie is a pretty good movie but doesn't come close to George Romero's original masterpiece. The characters changed, and the zombies changed. They run like hell and that is a big problem. They are dead, not marathon runners! There weren't any good flesh eating scenes. The FX were good but it didn't have the same feel as George Romero's 1978 movie. I would checkout the original first and then make your verdict.

Definitely one of the best Zombie Movies out there. A very well done film that deserves to have a sequel to it.

This one has to go down as one of the best remakes ever. The filmmakers found the perfect balance between imitating the original and creating something new. This movie is intense. The zombies are fast, there is more action, and there are more initial survivors then the original (more victims) The gore is tone down a bit, but still not for the squeamish. The tone is a bit more serious then the original but there is still plenty of dark humor sprinkled throughout. Music aficionados should pay attention to the muzak system. The only knock against this is the lame "gotta have a sequel" epilogue that plays during the credits. Do yourself a favor and shut that DVD off once it fades to black.

The movie is very cool, is science fiction but in the really live, the scientifics and the goverments, invented some epidemics for the humans, and I think this movie is based on the some experiments with the humans (for the world war) I like the movie, the actos they have do it nice. Thanks. If you find some mistakes, sorry. But my english isn´t good..

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Meh... it was ok, it was better than it was worse (does that make sense) but I didnt expect much. Romero should've done the remake to his own classic, I think Snyder messed up harsh... I saw the dvd and the bonus features were immpressive. Acting: 5 Fright Factor: 6 Script: 6 Storyline: 7 Overall: 6 Special Effects: 8 PS- the zombies sucked, why could they run? Zombies are dead, they are supposed to be slow.

I loved the movie! It was the best! The acting was great, the plot was good too. At first I didn't understand why they would leave the mall when they had everything, but wouldn't you want to see if there was anyone else out there? P. S. Kevin Zegers was sooo hot as Terry!

What a fun movie. I am a harsh critic on remakes. There needs to be a reason to remake something, and dont give me one that is scene for scene the original. Because then I would have to ask why you did it. So this movie made it as it could update the special effects, and really took off with its own story. Having said that, there are some problems in there. I rolled my eyes at how big some of the explosions were given their source. I think a great evening would be to rent this and then Shaun of the Dead..

This movie was absolutely fabulous. It had me hanging on the edge of my seat for the next move. And at the end during the credits, the flashes of what was happening was sooo effective. I hope they make a sequel. Even tho sequels are usually worse nothing could kill the power of this movie.

This is a pretty biased opinion since I'm a horror movie junkie, but I loved this movie. The updated zombies were fabulous. They weren't slow, bumbling idiots moaning, "Brains, " like in so many zombie movies. These creatures were fast and able to solve simple problems in attempts to catch their quarry. They still seemed human, except they were only capable of using the most basic of animal instincts to survive.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Ok I am sorry. I had high hopes. This movie sucked hard. The acting wasn't bad but the story? Hello... Like it was semi-believable up until they decide to leave likely the safest place they could ever ask for and anything they may ever want for the unknown with hundreds of thousands of zombies. The one guy even pointed that out and everyone is like yah "that's the plan". Not very good at all. Really poor story. Don't see it. It was a waste of time.

A good remake, different in alot of ways from the orginal but it stayed true to they don't know really how it has happend and why and their not going to solve it. The violence is very good, the Andy character was a nice addition to this version, and the zombies were much faster and seemed smarter than they were in the romero classics.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Dawn of the Dead 2004 -One Hell of a Zombie Movie- This remake of George A. Romeros so called 1978 classic provides the most in entertainment value. Bringer us much faster and dangerous form of the living dead than its 1978 counterpart. Offering much more fun, excitement, and zombies than any other zombie movie. More blood, characters, and media footage. This movie is a great experience for people of all ages, and even the hardcore Romero fans. This movie does not bother with consumerism like Romeros version did. This one focuses more on the conflicts between the many survivors in the mall. It shows the viewers how the world slowly loses control, and is overrun by living dead creatures. This also reveals how the media lies to the world, and provides it with false information. A world completely lifeless and full of the living dead. First time director, Zack Snyder makes a very impress movie directing debut. Bringing some of the most interesting shots ever filmed. Such as, an aerial shot at the beginning of the film that shows all the chaos and destruction around the world, a shot from the beginning of the movie where the camera is placed in front of Anas (Sarah Polley) car just over the hood, and an aerial shot at the end where CJ (Michael Kelley) blows up the bus to save the rest of the survivors while the zombies continue to run towards it. This movie offers some very realistic blood and gore. One example is the fact that it has a R.D.color like real blood. There were no scenes involving people being ripped open, but that makes the movie more realistic. Zombies ripping people open, then eating shows intelligence. The zombies in the movie are not supposed to be intelligent. They are supposed to act on instinct. They would not rip people open. This is a very realistic movie. Involving realistic gore, media footage, and world destruction. While being able to make the movie, fun, fast, and exciting. This movie beats out all the zombie movies in history. Including those pathetic movies made by George Romero. Definitely a movie the entire world should see. Entertainment = 10/10 [...] The only thing that connects that two movies are the fact that they have fast, "zombie-like" creatures. Which the Japanese came up with, not the Brits. This movie has an introduction. It opens by revealing a little of the life of our main character Ana. Showing where she works, how she is ignored, where she lives, who she knows. There is an introduction. Like I said before, this does not focus on "consumerism". Why? According to Zack Snyder, "consumerism" is not new like it was in Romero's film (which sucks) This movie focuses on the modern day world, and problems with it."Consumerism" would not be modern. So stop complaining [...] I'm tired of people complaining about fast zombies. Zombies are fictional creatures like dragons, unicorns, goblins, ogres. Everytime fictional creatures are used in movies, they are always different in some way. So zombies do not have rules. Anyone can do what they want with zombies. [...] Also. Romero is not a genius. He did not know that the dead would move slow. All he knew is that all the zombie films that cam out before his pathetic "Night of the Living Dead" had slow zombies. So he did them slow. Incase nobody knows, Romero did not come up with the walking dead. That has been around for a while. He was just the first to have them eat people. Zack Snyder. Best director in history.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This entertained the hell out of me, one of the best zombie flicks I've ever seen. Despite it's flaws (Like what brought on the zombie plague was never mentioned, predictability) Of course we all know that we are here to see people be chased, and eaten. The shrieks of the zombies are very chilling, as is the sheer magnitude of the infection. Seeing the buses slogging through the sea of zombies was horrifying. Fun for all.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] [...] This movie kicks major ass. All the FX they have hin this movie are realistic, like all the blood and stuff. Nowadays you see movies filled with crappy CGI that make it look fake. This movie has a little if none at all, none that you can tell least ways. I recommend anyone who likes a good zombie movie to go see this. 28 days later doesn't even compare to this Dawn of the Dead remake. In reviews I've see people say like "Oh well this movie made me laugh more than anything." That's nothing but bull. The only real funny part is when they are all in the mall, and have been in there for awhile safe from the zombies, they are all having a good time, because they've been in there for awhile. If this was a real life situation, your telling me that you wouldn't try to make the best of a bad situation in mall you've been in for weeks knowing the zombies can't get inside. Think about it. Then it get's serious once the generators go out. So the only real funny part of the movie is when the "Get Down with the Sickness" (sang in a Jazzy Way, not opera like someone said - Performed by some guy named Richard Cheese) song starts and ends. Now that I got that out of the way, I've seen in some reviews "What's the point of this movie when they are all going to die? " Well for one, you don't really know that, you just have a sense that they will, and you hope they survive. I think that's what makes it a good movie. It's a good refreshing change to see something bad happen instead of leaving the movie off in a "aww everything's much better now" kind of way. The character development I think is damn good. I read some reviews that stated "There was no character development whatsoever". I thought it was good. For example, the character CJ. He was an ass at first, and didn't want to help the others. He then realized that the only way they can get through this is if they work together, so he starts helping them and isn't an ass to them anymore. Kenneth, the black cop, was more independent, want to leave to Fort Pastor by himself in search for his brother, leaving the rest of them in the mall. He then did the same as CJ, thought the only way to get through this is to help each other out and stay together. So what im trying to say is, this movie is freakin' aweseome. The blood FX and what not is amazing. And when it comes out on DVD (whenever it does, I'm waiting patientally for it), I suggest you go and buy it. It's well worth your money. --Zach.

If you are looking for a movie that is realistic get a grip. THIS IS A ZOMBIE MOVIE THE DEAD WALK THE EARTH! Stick to movies like Uptown Girls! I love all the old zombie movie classics but am willing to try something new. I guess some of you old dogs can't be taught new tricks. This movie was fast paced filled with utter chaos. Zombies are no longer slow and cumbersome. They move with speed and agility. The original storyline isn't followed exactly but who cares! Who wants to watch the exact same storyline. Avoid at all costs!!! This movie is sooo unrealstic... and over dramatized. One line in the mvoie, literally, is: "lets go the shopping mall" (after the posessed people have started to attack)they then film the shopping mall playing dramatized opera music. Furthermore, they spend all thier time in a shopping mall, and the occasional zombie or whatever comes in. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. A waste of money and time!!!

This is the WORST zombie movie I have ever seen, so much so, it's a shame to the genre! I recommend everyone to buy the original Romero classic from 1978 on DVD, and avoid this piece of Hollywood garbage with it's predictable dialogue and plot, unmemorable characters (you want to see die! ), and the oh-so-stupid use of comedic relief with the poor use of music. Hollywood must really be running out of ideas, for all they seem to do these days is remake after remake without adding anything new to the mix... If you want GOOD zombie horror, leave it to the pros such as Romero and Fulci.

If you are into zombie movies, this is a winner. Having seen the original trilogy, I wasn't sure if this would be good or not, as usually remakes aren't as good. The script was full of the classic zombie movie lines as any good movie of this genre requires, the soundtrack was excellent (Down with the Disease was definitely a good choice here), and the cinematography was great (when things got hectic, they used the classic zombie movie filming techniques with jumpy camera etc) I highly recommend it for fans of this type of film.

For a movie that is billed as the romantic comedy of the year, I have to say I was taken aback by the amount of blood and gore in the first 10 minutes. Then I settled down into the plot and saw it for the artsy take on the Romero classic it was intended to be. A delightful twist at the end left me wanting more - 8 out of 10!

As a true lover of the original 3 Romero films and horror movies in general, it really surprised me how good this movie is. It has been a long time since a horror movie has given me genuine scares and that's great! For those who are disappointed by the films lack of "social commentary" I suggest you go re-watch the self-important, sleep inducing '28 Days Later' which is so concerned with its 'lesson' that it forgets it's a horror movie halfway thru. Me? I enjoy being scared..

This movie was scary. While it did lack gore (I have a strong blood lust), it produced enoguh suspense to keep interest. My only problem is one which I dare not discuss here (but I do in my full review) as I don't want the big "ATTN-I LIKE SPOILING MOVIES" message. Either way, the characters were developed great, as only the key players were developed, allowing less attantion to the ohers, giving a bit of a "who is that getting eaten? " kind of reaction, making it all the more terrifying. Must see.

Not a TERRIBLE movie, but not even a good one either. So many holes and loose-ends in the story, a very weird choice of soundtrack, it made me giggle more than it made me jump. A better movie about pople trying to coexist after a plague turns everyone into zombies is "28 days later". 28 days is everything that "Dawn of the Dead" tried to be, but couldn't.
