This is a great hockey movie! One of the best I have ever seen. Maurice Richard should never live in the shadows of Wayne Gretzkey. The Rocket was the best!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Terriffic movie. Loved the part where he slugs Dill from the Rangers. Being that Sean Avery played the part, it is double good. I liked it that the french speaking people spoke french, and the english spoke english. No dubbing. It was great.

Even if I wasn't a Roy Dupuis or a hockey fan, this is the movie to see. Human struggle, dedication, faith and love of family. A wonderful movie for everyone.

A very good depiction of Quebec icon Maurice Richard, who was a very extraordinary ordinary man. I'm not sure if the depiction of Dick Irvin was correct but overall this was a better than expected film. It was also a treat to see real NHlers like Mike Ricci (as Elmer Lach, Sean Avery as the goon Dill, along with Vincent Lecavalier and Ian Laperriere in the film as well.

Great acting and I agree with the reviewer who suggested some origional shots would have added to the movie. Non hockey moviegoers will still enjoy the great storyline. Inspirational!!

Great film, much better than I expected. A pity that more people don't go and support this film. It was really well done. I almost forgot it was Canadian-produced.

As someone who doesn't watch hockey I still found the film effective, entertaining and moving.

It's a movie to see. It's all about the story of Maurice Richard who had only one thing in his mind: to play hockey and win. Even if you don't watch hockey it doesn't matter, it is all about his life, emotions. Make sure you bring your kleenex.

For a non-canadian spectator I learned a lot about canadian hockey history; it was a great moment, a pleasure to watch, intended to reach any kind of audience and of course extremely well played. A must see for sure, even if you're not a major hockey fan, yet I just felt like hitting the pot after the movie!

This is truly an eye-opening experience. The fact that they had the majority of the dialogue in French only adds to the credibility of the movie. It should have been done this way as Mr. Richard IS French and French was the main language in that setting. It would have diluted the message of the film to have had it in English. This movie brings home the differences between hockey then and now and is a truly inspirational story of a great Canadian.

Finally, a Canadian classic... How the hell did this happen? Totally blew me away. What an unexpected surprise. Have to see it again. Hollywood move over. First there was "Water"... now "the Rocket." Way to go, aye?

There are precious few movies that address the often problematic relationship between the anglophones and francophones in Canada."The Rocket", aside from being an excellent biography of a sports superstar, realistically depicts the strained relationship between the working class french and their english speaking corporate masters early in the early 20th century.

It was more than just a hockey movie. It was about the personal struggle to succeed, and then to make a difference for others to succeed. The hockey scenes were very realistic, and detailed. The story was concise and entertaining. The english subtitles were quick, but easy to read. My 15 year old son, who knew nothing about Maurice Richard, thought it was excellent, and he only likes action movies. The movie was appropriate for ages 8 and up. There was very little swearing, and no nudity or sex.

Brilliant! It's about time we had a great movie about a great national hero. Rocket Richard wasn't just an inspiration to the people of Quebec... we should all be proud that he was Canadian.

It was a really good movie about a great hockey player and how it was back then for him and it is a true store about his life in hockey. The only thing I did not like about the movie is that it was about 90% french and it's all in subtitles so you got to read throught the hold thing for me it was ok I guest because I'am french but for someone eles they may not like that because they got to read and watch at the same time. But go see the movie it great.

I fully enjoyed it. It is a true story about the best hockey player there will ever be. How he was so poorly treated simply because he was the best and he was french. It is a real eye opener and I think everyone should see it to understand what went on and what still is going on. Roy Dupuis was a fantastic rocket.
