Based on a true story makes this movie even better, the acting was superb and the storyline itself reaches deep into the core of your soul... a must see.

This is one of the best movies ever. You must appreciate the fact that it is based on a true story. It transports you to a different time and takes your mind completely away from the realities of now.

The begining of the film is very common. Brashear tries to be an overwhelming guy, his origins are very common, the courage inyected by his family in dificult moments makes him a successfull diver..

I would have to say that this is one of the best movies I have seen, it was so inspiring. The best thing about it is that it is based on a true story. It shows that you can do anything you set your mind to. I was impressed!

I really really enjoyed this movie. The injustice that so many people face was displayed remarkably. The strength that individuals have to overcome these barriers is astounding. A definite must see.

Touching, poignant, frustration, disbelief, anger... I felt so many emotions while watching this movie. Perhaps knowing it is based on a true story causes one to take it so seriously. De Niro, Gooding Jr... How can you miss. A must see!

I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. First of, it`s a very American movie, I knew that since the first time I saw the previews, but the fact that it was based on a true story forced me to go and judge again; veredict: a very american movie. But dispite that fact, the movie was very good. Gooding was quite OK, but his play in Jerry Maguire will be hard to top and DeNiro was his usual self, playing the meanie. For a person that has been or is in the armed forces anywhere, the tale ilustrates a face which is everpresent in a military environment: the pressure, the will to go on, the pride that comes with success and deep rooted frustration that comes when you get injured and are unable to do your job. Most civilians do not understand this and won`t do so until they actually volunteer to eventually defend their countries and rights with their very own lives. As for the movie, not a masterpiece, but most certainly one of the best films of the year. Amazing underwater scenes as well as captivating action sequences and special effects. The family plot could have been developped a bit more (on both Sunday and Brashear`s sides), but the relation between Sunday and Brashear makes up for it, it is very singular and inspiring (the charachter of Billy Sunday is based on two persons that influenced Brashear`s carrer in real life). Bottom line, a movie worth seeing by anyone familiar with a military environment or basically anyone who would like to be inspired.

Ok, I admit DeNiro was excellent and definately deserves an Oscar but the movie itself... I would have to say that it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be but it wasn't awful either. The story was good, the acting was good... But the movie was long, too long, which made it a little diffcult to sit through. A good movie is one that can captivate the audience, that keeps the person's eyes glued to the screen, not thinking about anything but what is going to happen next... In this movie, that was not accomplished so no matter how I try to convince myself that the movie was excellent, I just can't. To be honest, I got up in the middle of the movie, made a phone call, went to the washroom, bought a drink, came back and I hadn't missed a thing. That's bad. That's the sign of a slow movie. So, in conclusion, I think it's worth seeing but not at the theaters, I would wait for it to come out on video. I give it a 6.5/10.

I don't know what some of these people are talking about, but this movie was really really good. I rarely give a perfect mark but this movie deserves it. Expect to hear some Oscar Buzzzzz!!!

This movie was outstanding! With the preview, you would think it be very predictable BUT it is not... a movie that makes you think about human kind. How your own inner strenght has NO LIMIT! You can do anything that you want to do!!

This was a great movie and a great story. De Niro plays wonderfully but his character isn't believable in a sense that I doubt a man in his position could have stayed 20 years serving his country with that kind of childish behavior... However, it was a very enjoyable movie and a change from the free violence we tend to see for the sake of "entertainement". A must see for the whole family. Also an opportunity to start a discussion with our teens about racism.

Very good story. DeNiro's best acting in sometime (since Cape Fear? ). Gooding did a solid job of acting but I never found him believable as the son of a sharecropper (too squeaky clean). Too often the movie switches from "manly" scenes to sappy melodrama. But for all of the movie's weeknesses, the story is incredibly interesting and inspiring.

Excellent movie making, all around. I have to echo what someone else already wrote, I haven't been this satisfied after a movie in a long time. The acting was superb, and the story was so well presented. It causes you to ponder your own honor, or lack thereof. It leaves you in wonderment at some truly great people who achieve so much, overcoming remarkable odds. A must see movie.

This is the first movie I've seen in ages where the script is good (great dialogues) the actors are awesome (Gooding Jr. , Deniro and Theron do a really good job) and which sucks. It was not enjoyable at all! The pans, the camera angles, the overbearing music schlep (violins at the drop of a hat). Yuk. The director killed this movie. Under better hands, it would have been something else. Now, it's a disgrace to the actors, the writers and the story it tells. And I think what hurts the most is that what should have been good was sabotaged and transformed into kitsch by the worst directing I've seen since "Joe vs the Volcano".

This is film-making at its best!! With a perfect balance of action, drama, special effects, and humour, "Men of Honor" engaged me from the opening scene and carried me on a watering journey into my own soul. I was stirred on many occasions with mixed emotions and was forced to examine my own fears, predjudices, and sense of honor. This excellent cast, lead by the powerful acting of Cuba Gooding Jr. And Robert DeNiro, really brought this story to life in a very convincing way. This is the most fullfilled I've been after a movie in a long time.
