Even though the movie put me to sleep, the leading performance of Casey Affleck as Robert Ford is SO good that the movie deserves a passing grade. The film also offers terrific insight into the life of Jesse James. The movie is definitely too long, however. 160 minutes is just too long for a movie that moves along this slowly. It's the first western where I've ever fallen asleep during the viewing. I mean 3:10 to Yuma was slow as well but it was really exciting at the same time. How do you make a dull film involving Jesse James anyway? Anyway, overall it's passable because the last act is SO good and the performance of Casey Affleck is incredible.

This is a beautiful film. I agree that it is a little slow and maybe a little too long, but I loved it. I'm sure people found it boring because there isn't anything blowing up... or fast cars... or anything typical of the big American blockbusters. Casey Affleck should have won an award for his role. I had no idea he could act until I saw this film. If you can appreciate a film for its cinematography and acting, then go see this movie. It's so well done.

Excellent acting. Casey gave me the heeby jeebies and you felt the tension gradually increase as the movie went along. Good character study. A tad long though.

I really enjoyed this film once I realized the groove it was in I then sat back and relaxed into it. Brad Pitt has weathered into a fine actor and Casey Affleck was utterly mesmerizing in his portrayal of R Ford. Fantastic dialogue, and lets not forget to mention the soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis that streams in and out and throughtout and has as much to do in the storytelling when words refrain from utterances and the camera holds the steady gaze in each actors eyes and you can see so clearly into each mans soul and believe you know what they are actually thinking and feeling. As others have stated this films demands your slow attention. But worth it.

This was the worst movie I have ever seen I'm telling u this cause its true its 3 hours of talk and no action I'm saying this again worst movie ever. I highly suggest that u dont waste your money.

Casey Afleck does a great job but it's not enough to make this a good film. This film has been beat to death with a stick. Too much work for too little entertainment.

It was really boring. I was expecting to see at least some action. When I saw this movie in the theatre, other people actually left half way through. I didn't, only because I paid for the ticket. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Very interesting movie. The acting by Cassey, Rockwell and Pitt was very good. The only criticism would be the narator. Which they could of done without.
