Great movie and very controversial. Intolerance is everywhere and this movie shows how people use Christianity to justify it.

Beautifully filmed and acted movie with suspense and a twist at the end. Brings to light the terror of fundamentalist thinking, which is a part of living in the Bible belt.

This is a great movie from start to finish. The film depicts controversy, love, and hate and works around issues facing our society today. The emotions involved are displayed well through the stellar starsÂ’ performances, and the outcome connects all of them in a twisted, unexpected ending. EXCELLENT!!

This movie kept me on the edge of my seat. It is refreshing to see dark, dirty corrupt deeds have light shed on them. The prejudice in religion and the law and the unjust acts committed against gays and women that take place in this film are only a mirror of reality. This all makes me think, "Whatever happened to love? Do we need hate to survive in this world or would Love be enough? ".

I was overwhelmed to learn that this was the writer/director's first feature film. Both the script and the production were thorough and thoughtful. It addressed pervasive issues with candor and a sensitivity that make this movie one I will remember in detail.

I found it to be both disturbing and entertaining. It definitely held my interest all the way to the end. It shows what happes when even religion is taken to an extream."All things in MODERATION".

Hi [...] I'm from Toronto Canada. My partner, myself and a few family members saw the movie last week and think Hate Crime is one of the best movies we have seen in a long time. What a concept isn't it that two gay men are shown to be more than a couple bar hopping flambouyant nelly type guy, s... After about a year of cruising the web in anticapation of the movie coming to Toronto(THANKS TOMMY, EBONY, SETH AND CHAD)the ending left me speachless. I had thought by the time I actually saw the movie there would be nothing I had not already figured out. WHAT A MISTAKE that was. The ending was more than I could possibly of known. For me I will have to see it a couple more times while it is here to reconcile if the ending is an acceptable response to a very tragic loss of a loved one. My partner [...] and I know of people, family and freinds that have been victims of hate and prejudice. I MUST AGREE WITH THE tORONTO Sun that Hate Crime raises moral issues that even I didn't know I had. To anyone either side of the border, go and see it. Gay or straight we can all relate to tragic loss and at some time in all our lives we will face some form of bigotry. Thanks to all that brought hate crime to Toronto... [...]

Excellent acting, and great story. Love the surprise ending. It is about time that someone showed the public that although religion is supposed to be about love, that the minute there is any difference to their believes, there is no longer love, but hatred. If you look at all the trouble that is going on in the world, you can trace it right back to the same scenario..

The writer and director of this movie aptly displays an unbalanced look at homophobia and makes Christians the bad guys. Wow is this guy in the dark or what. I can understand certain groups being fanatical and fundamentalists who lose the real grasp of Christianity. When practiced in its truest form this religion is a humble one and compassionate. The love of Christ is expressed to all of humanity. There is tons of the director/writer's own agenda going on here, especially when he juxtaposes the fire and brimstone preacher with the minister from a Jewish synogogue. If this moving was bashing any other religion like Muslims, they would be up in arms. Perhaps literaly. And of course that's ridiculous as well. Having said all that, perhaps the writer/director could benefit in film making by watching Dead Man Walking with Sean Penn where we see an equal balance between the two sides of the death penalty. The theatre was empty when I was there, thank God for that. Very one sided and distorted to make one side look innocent and cool. Perhaps that is the real hate crime, the making of this film.

The acting was very good in this movie. I did not agree with the resolution, however, I can also understand that the script writer is sending a strong message to gay bashers/murderers. Your bad actions will have bad consequences.
