I think the problem is the movie was marketed to the wrong audience. The trailer made it seem like a regular Jack Black-type comedy. It did not have many laugh out loud moments, and so I can see why people looking for that were dissapointed. But seriously people... have a heart. This movie had that and more. Pure magic.

Those poor guys, many people talked about this news on the forum on tall dating site ___Tallmingle. Com__, seems it is a break news there.

The plot of this movie is just odd and it detracts from the some of the potentially funny moments - - although these moments are few and far between. Very disappointing!

I am a big fan of Jack Black's work. Any fan of his is bound to enjoy this movie. Quite hilarious, and a great play on movies (the ones he supposedly 'erased') The only thing that I did not enjoy about the movie that it was not long enough. I will see this movie as soon as I can. Also, the trailer kind of spoils some of it for you. Recommended for 'Kid-At-Heart' Adults, and Childern from 8 and up.

Had some really funny moments and original ideas for shooting effects but kinda felt drawn out. Did anyone else feel that every character was dimwitted?

Not Gondry's best work. Its just a neat movie to watch due to Gondry's funky ideas, eye candy. I'd say its worth a rental.

Maybe the film makers didn't have people like me in mind when they wrote this, but judging from the other critics, I guess I'm not the only one who thought this was not a good movie.

Couple of funny moments in the first half hour but that's about it. Overall, I looked at my watch more than the movie screen.

I went to the movies with a friend, expecting the roaring laughter I usually experience during a GENIUS Jack Black Movie. To my suprise, that was a piece of crap. He's usually so funny! I saw the trailer and was so excited, but it was horrible. By the end of the movie, my Grandpa turned to me and Said "That is the worst movie I've ever seen!" I totally agree, no wonder only 9 people (including us!) were in the theatre.

The epitome of mediocrity... Was so bored I almost left halfway though, but my girlfriend was convinced that it would get better by the end. It didn't.

Excellent movie. Michel Gondry seems to get more and more abstract with every major film. It's the funniest movie I've seen in a long time! The whole theatre was roaring with laughter at several points. The remake of "Ghostbusters" alone made the $13 worthwhile!

Have no idea why they committed such a piece of s**t?! If you've enjoyed this so called "movie" (I'd prefer call it crap)then you must be [...]. This is the first time ever I had to walked out from cinema. S**t on a stick as a puppet would be more funny than "actors" in this pulp."Be kind rewind"? No! Be kind give me my money back!

If you like Michel Gondry, director of "the Science of Sleep" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" you will appreciate the artistic style of this movie. If you are looking for a typical "buddy movie" you should probably pass. This is too smart for you.

Movie was dissapointing. Good premise, but the plot went nowhere which was unfortunate because it had your attention for the first 1/2 hour. It was a waste of a good cast. Not even worth a rental, I would wait to watch it on t.v.

I actually walked out of this movie, I saw the trailer and thought it would be good, but for some reason I couldnt take the fact that there was no script and the actors were relying on improv to make it funny which they failed miserably at. Do not waste your time or money it was total crap!

The Good Things about this movie was its plot, its humor and its acting. The acting was really good. Mos Def was brilliant and Jack Black surprised me with his acting (unlike his stupidity roles in terrible movies like Nacho libre) he was actually a great actor. And whoever thought of putting Mos Def and Jack Black is genius. These are the reasons I gave it a six and not lower. These are the reasond it's a 6 and not higher: It was a bit random at a few parts and a bit boring, could've added more humour to te end of the movie or maybe even more of an exciement in the film. But overall, it was not bad, but could be MUCH better.

[...] I feel as though Michel Gondry is changing film in a way that will someday have people study him. Not a Spielberg or Kubrick (who don't necessarily make my type of "classic"), but a great filmmaker, with beautiful ideas. Maybe the Woody Allen of our time, even thoug Allen is still making movies I now avoid. This is the first review I write, and I hope that it will be read by someone who goes to see the movie, because I read prior reviews. A movie can do two things. Be a piece of art (Like "Le Mépris" of Jean-Luc Godard or Kubrics... well most of Kubrics stuff), or entertain ("Singin in the rain" or say... why not "Die hard" or "Death Proof") This movie does both in my opinion. Let's not pretend I'm being objective. I, consider this movie among my top ten. I'm going to see it again tonight... For the record, avoid judging a book by it's cover, or a movie or record by the average "rating" people you don't know stamp on a piece of work like it's a passtime.

A sad waste of time and money. Not at all as portrayed in trailer. Expected it to be funny, but it took itself way too seriously, and tried to make it some kind of history lesson. Cheap, unimaginative jokes that just fell flat. Very disappointed, especially because the concept from the trailers had great potential.

This movie lines up well with Gaudry's other movies. You can't top his endearing style and quirky screenwriting. You shouldn't go into this movie expecting Jack Black's acting to shine, because that just never happens. I found this movie to be an interesting look into how Gaudry views the roll of movies, formulaic hollywood plot and all. Also, Sweded movies... fantastic. Not exactly Science of Sleep nor Eternal Sunshine, but certainly worth seeing.

This is a niche film, and people looking for a benign crowd pleaser best choose another. I found it to be a quirky and touching comedy, well acted, well cast, and engaging throughout. The story is delightfully absurd, the characters endearingly flawed, and tacky Hollywood tactics and emotional manipulation deftly avoided. An gem for an intelligent audience, looking for something slightly off the beaten film track.

If you don't like Jack Black, why go? I found it to be funny, but I love the guy. I found that the many 1's this movie got is a bit extreme really. Sure, anything can be better, and everyone has different tastes, but it seems to me that people that would give it a 1 didn't know what they were getting into. I went to laugh and enjoy the movie, enjoy watching Jack Black do his thing, and I was not disappointed in the least.

This movie has more original thought in a single scene than most movies have from beginning to end. It puts nearly everything else currently in theatres to shame. Simply brilliant.

Once you get past the 1st half hour, the movie has some redeeming qualities. I really enjoy Jack Blacks type of humour, but this movie was a little different. It was more amusing than funny. I would suggest waiting for it to come out on rental.

Many reviews are chriticising blakcs acting, but that is exactly what the movie is about. Jack Black is Jack Black, you either like him or not, much will Farrel. I will agree it doent have the greatest beginning or the actual plot, but if those of you who have left would have sat past those fifteen minutes you would not have regretted it. You leave the theatre smiling with a happy fuzzy feeling inside.

It's a celebration of creativity. Jack Black still has room to be Jack Black, but it is by no means a "Nacho Libre" performance... so... don't let that stop you from seeing it. Mos Def is great as well, and the comradery between him and Jack is great. In fact, their relationship with every other character in the movie is fantastic... Their "sweded" movies are absolutely hilarious, and to know that the whole town where it was actually filmed (Passaic, New Jersey) got involved is also quite amazing. Michel Gondry has done it again. Go see this movie! Now!

I'm giving it a 10 because it doesn't deserve the 5 it has now. Its really a fun movie, you just have to take it for what it is supposed to be. I laughed. That was good enough for me!

Some of the most bizarre pacing I've ever seen in a Hollywood movie. I couldn't decide if the editing was moronic or brilliant. I do know, for a fact, that this movie portrays very well the deep love people have of filmmaking. And for any movie-lover, I think there is alot to enjoy in this film. This makes for a fine DVD rental. Not as effective a comedy as, say, In Bruges. Overall, I certainly enjoyed it but it's nothing extraordinary.
