I have seen only half of it on dvd and am looking forward to seeing the rest tomorrow. Having lived in the former Soviet Union it is easier for me to follow the film. I find the topic of good over evil, or good and living living in harmony to be quite interesting. It is a film that must be seen more than one to fully be apreciated by a viewer who has never lived in an Eastern European country. It is a very interesting film and well done. I am looking forward to reading the book.

Where do I start? The movie was an absolutely disgraceful waste of money. I happen to be Russian, so I understand this a hell lot better than most other people and just a note: the dubbing was horrible. This particular portrayal of good vs evil (which I am a fan of by the way) was by far the worst I've ever seen. If you come across it, read the book Nightwatch, it's alot better and actually makes sense. But this... was like a bad copy of Constantine...

Mage-Transfromer has been my favourite actress, since my early years in the corps. The performance was one of the high points of this horror-opera. If you you ever had a mullet as a kid, see this movie. If you had a mushroom cut, rent it on video. [...] P. S. that's right, video (not DVD)

I don't see movies just for the effects (which were lousy), but I thought the Good vs. Evil theme in this movie was just plain silly. Kind of like a bad TV show on Space. One of the worst movies I saw at Fantasia. Of course, I'm basing this on the English subtitles since I don't speak Russian...

A different take on the Vampire genre... loved the unfamiliar Russian environment and humour.

I saw the original version of the film and having read the book as well, it was easy for me to follow the events. For all of you who havent seen it yet, following is hard but the movies isnt about the usual stupid hollywood action scenes and special effects, this is the life of a man living in that twisted society and being tricked by the rulers of good and eveil. For all of you who didint like underworld or blade because there was no story, only money, I say this: this movie wasnt made to make crazy money, it was made because people loved the book which is wrote in the same twisted way. Ps: if u plan on watching the second one (day watch) you should know that its really different from the first one.

Surprisingly captivating. Even the subtitles were designed to contribute to the flow of the film.

It was quite different than other movies of this genre. Action sequences which seemed incoherent as they were happening would suddenly make sense moments later. Unfortunately, although this aspect kept me interested there were some key elements of the story that were underdeveloped. Night Watch has very little in common with Underworld. Underworld was stupid movie.

In russian this movie is much better. The traslation is bad. Second movie calls Day watch. In russia it came on the begginer of this year and it will come to North America in the end of this year. That I read in official russian website.

I DO feel sorry for those who rated this movie with anything less than 6/10. They must have been spoiled and stupefied by Hollywood. Comaring this movie to Blade and Underworld is just pathetic. This movie is not about the special effects, action sequences and an easy-to-follow storyline. It is a tale of human nature and the ultimate mystery of "Good vs. Evil".

This film is part of my 10 top-ten... of the worst films I've seen. Not to mention the fact that I'm a fan of the vampire theme. The plot is full of holes, hard to follow and, not least of all, BORING. Action scenes are almost inexistant. The special effects are numerous, well done but they breathe no life into the dead horse of a film.

I thought this was a convaluted, discombopulated piece of junk. I give it B for Bad, B for Bummer and B for Boo![...]

This is not a scary movie, compared to the stuff from Hollywood. It seemed like a low budget film because they're special effects seems so amateur. But good to see horror genre coming from Russia, in Russian.

This is a great movie (and if you like it, that works out well because it's a part of a trilogy! - it's got interesting plot twists, great acting and is totally engulfing. You actually forget it is a subtitled movie because it is just that good. The visual effects are near flawless. High budget. Very good show. Anyone who gives it less than a 7/10 probably LOVED the movies "Punch Drunk Love" and "Gigli.".

Excellent movie! Awesome storyline with all the drama, action and special effects to make the movie worthwhile to watch. Definitely better choice than going to see 'Ultraviolet! '.

I think people who say it's a bad movie just didn't understand it. Sorry for them... You need to think about it. It's religious. It's not just scarry, it's not about it. It has a really good plot, which not everybody can understand... People who compare night watch to underworld [...]. If they can expect from movie only special effects, sorry for them. If people don't like the movie which makes them think, it's a pitty. It's more about understanding, feeling and life. It's not about beauty, money, special effects and stupid fights where people fall from the building and stay alive... It's real. I feel so sorry for those who hate it is too difficult for them...

Never thought that a Russian movie would make it to Halifax but was pleasantly surprised. My friend and I both speak Russian, so we were chuckling at some of the discrepancies between the subtitles and what was actually said. Predictable, but with a nice twist in the end. Will there be Nightwatch 2?

Long story short cheap actors, cheap production.

I think its pretty good, considering that its probably the first movie of its kind or genre, especially for russian cinema. Good acting, and the plot that some say is old, yea, it is, but so is life itself... And I much rather have this than another "scary movie" of Hollywood, with buckets of blood and pieces flying everywhere... I mean come on, people, what did you expect? Give it a chance, and I am sure you will find it quite interesting! Of course the books are 100 times better, and I cant wait for them to be translated and printed..
