Very quaint perspective on what it's like to be an "awkward" adolescent growing up. Anyone who has ever felt left out because they never really fit in during their school years will identify with this great movie.

Life is the pits. Then, when you get older, it gets worse. This coming-of-age story presents a young hero with a common physical challenge that keeps him apart from the crowd, yet it is a challenge I have never seen addressed before on the big screen. Unlike Chinese food, this film fills you slowly and completely.

I thought it was really good. A lot of great quirky characters. Cute story. Go see it for something different!

Reviewers seem to love or hate the film. I'll take a middle position. It was mildly engaging and Reece Thompson did an adequate job as the stuttering debater. Ending on a bittersweet note was original, but the film certainly wasn't 'hilarious' as the poster critics claimed. More quixotic.

Great performances from the cast in this little movie. Won the director's award at Sundance this year.

I saw the movie because it was rated 10/10. I didn't realize at the time that it was rated 10/10 because only 2 people rated it. It is a movie made for kids.

There are two types of people - there's people like me, and there's everyone else. A lot of reviews of Rocket Science I've read have been written by people who fall into the latter category. They criticize this film for being too consciously quirky or affected... I take umbrage with this the same way one ought to take umbrage with the idea that the movies of the Farrelly brothers are consciously scatological, or that the films of Chris Guest are consciously improvisational. I mean, it's a comedy, people! Quirkiness is this particular film's conceit, its schtick, and if you're not willing to play along with a film's conceit, then move along... Move along. The other type of people - people like me - will love this film. I saw it in a theatre filled with people like me (well, not filled exactly, but one-quarter-filled; there aren't that many of us I'm afraid) And it was the first time in a long time that I recall hearing people laugh out loud during a film. I'd say the audience who I saw it with certainly connected. And it marks the return of Mike Yanagita (aka Steve Park)! That scene-stealer from Fargo. The whole cast is great, actually, but especially Reece Thompson as Hal Hefner. Phenomenal. Stutterers on film are uniformly annoying to the point of unwatchability, but not Hal - he is utterly endearing. If you liked Rushmore, or Spellbound (that is indeed a doc but I feel comfortable making the comparison because Rocket Science is from the same director), you'll love this one.

A beautifully down 'coming of age' independent film. For any fans of lil' miss sunshine and those kinds of films this is a MUST SEE. The acting is amazing, the writing is solid... Just an all around great film.
