Goof movie and good acting but I thought we didn't really see a lot of Chris Cooper's elusive past. It still remains an interesting movie with its highs ans lows.

Not a bad pick if you are an American. The story is all about how a man can literally bring a nation to it's knees and lose his soul in the process. I liked the story and found the investigation process very interesting. You got to know the characters and you had an interest in the outcome. That's entertainment.

It's a good movie but if you don't know your history, you are not going to like it. The actors are very good.

Very well played out, very psychological, I love Laura Linney in this. Interesting movie overall, not much action, though.

It lacked in any sort of entertainment and the words chosen for the script were cheesy and immature. Please never make a movie such as this again. Yours Truly, J & S.

Surfacy plot, poorly written, bad acting. When a 5 year old says that they didn't break the vase - a big purple eagle flew in the window and did it? Yeah, they are more believable and plausible than trained FBI agents shown here. The lies were weakly acted and badly written. I did like how they showed pre twin tower departmental protectionism. While shown throughout I don’t think they hit home that this is why they were showing that.

If you're looking for a movie with a lot of action or twists and turns, this movie is not for you. If you want to understand the kinds of things the government must do to investigate potential threats, you'll find this very interesting.

No excitement in the movie at all very boring. I was waiting for something to happen and nothing ever did. Mostly old people in audience. This movie is for old people.

I liked it, not the movie of the year but worth seeing... but probably on dvd rather than the big screen. It's not the best spy movie I've seen but it was watchable.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] How can a supposidly master spy make so many dumb ass mistakes? Duh, did I leave my Blackberry in my briefcase while having my picture taken? Is my car bugged? I should use my cell phone all the time to make contacts, nobody can pick up the signal right? I'll keep a list of all my important info on my Blackberry in case I forget something. I won't forget it and have my secretary download the info that's on it when I'm out of the office.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Cooper's performance is fine. The script, however, is filled with dead-end tangents and unanswered questions. Leaves his Blackberry in briefcase to get his picture taken. How did he make it this far as a spy? Wish my mechanic could take my car apart and put it together in the space of one hour while I'm in a meeting. I always send my porno tapes by regular mail and have my secretary mail it for me, Oh by the way can you mail these secret documents as well.

This movie is definitely entertaining and suspenseful at all times. I find the acting to be great and you are able to feel each of the main characters. You guys should watch this movie if you like spy movies. Don't expect to see too much action on this one though...

A well-acted, well-directed film. Good vibes from the cast. There is no confusion about what is right and what is wrong. A refreshing absence of "warm fuzzies". Sympathetic to human failure and weakness. Even the "villain" is accorded a measure of respect.

I enjoyed the movie but was not expecting much. Spy thrillers tend to be great books but boring movies. This one was not dull owing mainly to the amount of time spent revealing the character of Robert Hanssen. If only the FBI had given him an office with a window, the greatest national security breach in the history of the USA, might never had happened.

Wow! What a thriller. I had to keep reminding myself to breath. Cris Cooper is spellbinding as a subtle treason-bound maniac. He is despicable and yet sympathetic as the hard working spy who never gets his "propers" I loved it!

Movie was quite interesting. Chris Cooper once again has done an excellent job acting. Some of my friends thought this movie was "a bit slow". Maybe because it isn't the "spy" type movie they thought it would be. Still, a great movie though.

Boring. Never have I been so indifferent about a movie before. Theres just nothing about this movie that makes it worth watching but yet its not necessarily a bad movie.

Very interesting. Robert hanssen's character is played very well. It is cool to see what happened and how he managed to get away with it for so long, but quite boring. Very little action. The pace of the movie barley ever quickens, which makes the movie dull but it still holds interest.

This movie had the potential to be solid gold, but fell short in one critical area, character development. Hanssen was the worst traitor in US history. The film should have explored more of the relationship with his disapproving father, his apprent mistreatment by the bureau. This would have given his character more dimension, may have even made us have sympathy for him. It's easy to hate a traitor who is a bible thumping sexual diviant. However, if you show how he got that way, it makes for a more human, and by extention, entertaining story. Actually, the "why" is the whole point of the movie... isn't it?

Based on the premise of a drab gov't office, with a "I'm not appreciated" attitude employee, the action is limited. A decent story (read a book about it) - it was similar to the book... you finished it and put it down and went about with your day - simply a good story with not much emotional attachment. Worth seeing yes, but maybe on DVD at home instead of wasting the "GO BIG" benefits of a large screen and sound system, as they didn't utilize either.

Rent it. It's not bad, but nothing as exiting as it promises to be in the trailer. Fairly straight forward. No real twists at all.

This true story is amazing enough on its own, no need to Hollywood it to death. Philippe and Cooper are terrific (even Oscar worthy in Cooper's case)

This movie was pretty good. Don't go in expecting intense action or long espionage scenes. It is simply an intriguing true story account of a recent 'breach' in US Intelligence. Very well acted and well thought through.

Enjoyed the movie. Phillippe gave a terrific performance as did Cooper. I didn't know this story going into the theatre. The movie was put together well. The scene in the woods was a bit frightening when Hannsen is shooting at O'Neill. That would have been terrifying for the agent in real life. If you like movies based on real events, this is worth going to see.

I had read some of the reviews on here before seeing this movie. I was concerned that the limited action might hurt the movie, but it didn't. The movie does not become boring at all. It is well done, well acted. The story is very interesting. If you don't need a lot of car chases, explosions, or love scenes, then go see this movie. You won't be disappointed.

I wanted to see this movie since I saw the first trailer and it didn't disappoint! I found it to be interesting and well written. The actor's played their part and the only question mark I had was the acting of the supporting cast. They turned to do really well and it was great to see a refreshing idea on screen. I found this to be a lot better than Robert DeNiro's flop. If you like anything CIA or FBI style movies without constant action, this is your movie. It was great. One thing to note is I went with a friend who couldn't watch it. This movie is only for those of you who like twists and turns. Not for people who fall asleep while learning.
