Amazing move. You will be touched and you will feel the reality. I have fallen in love in 2 main characters.

I see a lot of people are reminded of Charles Bronson movies. To be honest, this movie felt more like a Stallone movie, character goes around killing the most cartoon villains imaginable and uttering stupid lines (I still can't believe what she said after shooting that one guy in the back); at least with Bronson, Stallone and even Eastwood's Dirty Harry flicks, they just go ahead and do their business without having to cry about it after, which is really what bugged me the most, the way this movie trys to have it both ways, stupid violence but I'm also supposed to feel sorry for her; sorry, I don't. Either do it or don't, I don't care, but don't give me a bunch of crap about I'm going to do it and then feel bad about it after. BTW, one other movie ripped off is the masterpiece that Foster was actually part of, Scorcese's "Taxi Driver". I guess she always wanted to play the DeNiro character - the scene in the convenience store is almost a total rip off.

Essentially rip off verion of Death Wish except with a female lead. One of the worst movies of the year with a weak story line and poor direction. Jodie's weakest performance yet.

DVD: "Brave One (Widescreen)"
Here's a movie that initially had me pumped after seeing the first trailer, but subsequent viewings left me feeling as if I had basically seen the entire storyline. After the utter disappointment of Flight Plan, and even with the rave reviews Jodie Foster's performance were garnering her, I decided to stay away from this one. Well, I was wrong. This is an excellent movie, and really is a must see for several reasons. First of all, yes, Jodie Foster delivers a stellar performance, a real solid and touching portrayal of a woman whose life was dealt a major blow. I have not seen every Lead Actress Oscar nominated movie, but I cannot for the life of me believe that there were 5 better performances than this one last year. I simply cannot. Terrence Howard also delivers a performance worthy of recognition. His portrayal is convincing and his mastery of his emotions is really impressive in certain key scenes shared with Foster, making his performance that much more amazing. Next, the solid and thought-provoking screenplay often makes us ponder what we would do in that situation. It truly is a master's touch when a story can have you root for vigilanteism at the same time as seriously question whether it truly is right or wrong to carry out one's own brand of justice. And finally, the amazing Neil Jordan directed this masterfully, with the camera shots and angles playing such a big part in the actual storytelling than the dialogue does. A true sign of a gifted and natural director. If you are hesitating on seeing this movie, take a chance. You will be pleasantly surprised, as the trailer, albeit revealing the main plot, only really touches the surface of this amazing story. 9/10 without hesitation!

At the beginning of the film I was a little dismayed by the juxtaposing of imagery of violence and sensuality. As the story unfolds I found there was so much more to this story and was riveted. The chemistry between the two leads is strong, sexual and touching as they both wrestle with their own demons and code of ethics. The ending was predictable as hollywood endings always are... pretty good film for those that like dirty harry in the guise of a woman for a change.

A look at an action that many attacked people must think about. Good over bad in a really strange sense.

Good movie. It shows how an event can change the course of one's life. Good story and an ending I did not expect from the Investigator!

I enjoyed the bulk of the movie but the ending was disappointing. I suppose it is worthwhile to watch BUT I wouldn't watch it again...

Pretty boring. Movie would have benefited from having thirty minutes cut. There's nothing brave about Foster's character, it's just a simple revenge movie with a love story aspect. Deathwish and The Punisher do it better.
