Remember when you were a kid, you would catch a fly or an ant then tear off its legs just for fun? Its part of our nature to be sadistic on some level, and that must explain how one can enjoy that type of film. Saw reinvented the torture-porn genre, or simply brought it back to the light of day, cause if you remember well, the 70's was filled with that torture-porn-type of films. In the fifth installment, we get the same treatment as with the third one, everything seems to be wrapped up together nicely to explain where the accomplice we discovered in the previous film came to be part of the game. It feels now though, the filmmakers have run out of ideas and they are simply messing with the audience. There isnt much to be added really, it has the same flaws as the previous films and the qualities are getting rare. Characters are dumb, performaces are bad, the camera and the editing, its all annoying and its actually reached a new level of boredom really. At least its short, but come on, stop it already.

Really Good movie but it is NOT a horror movie it wast even scary (well would be for younger viewers) but I really enjoyed it I wanna buy it when it comes out on DVD, my favorite part was when the guy has to put hid hand in the table saw (very gross) anyways I would not suggest this movie for viewers under the age of 14 or 15 (a bit gruesome)

It was GREAT! I was so glad to get answers to many of the questions I had from the other 4. However, if you have not seen the other 4, you should definitely see them first.

If you like the Saw Franchise then you have to see this one. It explains everything!!! If you have never seen a saw move watch the others first of you my feel a bit cheated. It has the usual clever means to an end and I loved it.

Meh. Not too bad, definitely helps to have seen all the other Saw movies as they flash back quite a bit to scenes from the previous movies which you may not quite 'get' if you haven't seen them. Not the best Saw out of the 5 but still worth checking out.

I loved this movie. The twists were great, the acting was great. I love Julie Benz and she was awesome in this movie. The saw movies are not just kill ppl movies, there's always a story. I would still have liked to see more gore, but there's never enough for me. Lol. Can't wait to see the next one. Too bad it's the last.

This installment of the saw series has proven to be just that , the same as the others, just without the key element of jigsaw. The new jigsaw protege gives 50% at best. For all these reasons you can skip Saw 5.

Gory, exciting, and clever... very clever. A horror that actually involves using your brain rather than predicting the entire thing before it even starts.

I went to see Saw V twice at the theatre, and I must say it is a great movie. The continuation of the story-line is just great! The traps are not as crazy, but what do we expect after the 5th movie! On the other hand, the plot is amazing! The story respects the other four and gives us more than we expect... can't wait for the 6th ;)

I actually found the story in this one much more concise than Saw IV, which I found, had a rather convulted story-line. Honestly everyone's saying that the story-line sucks but what other horror movie did you know that went into as much depth in its meaning and plot than the Saw series? Even if the plot's getting a little predictable (About maybe a quarter way through I totally knew how the movie was gonna pan out), it's still better than the pathetic dribble you get on other horror movies. (As an aside, I totally know what's gonna happen in Saw VI) With that aside, unless you like crazy amounts of gore, this movie is pretty much just for the fans. Which I am btw.

Just like all the other saws it is a great movie it however lacked the HUGE twist of an ending that the other installments had. When will the people learn if they just listen to what he says they will live lol its to bad they never realize it till there screwed... definitely check it out though fills in some more blanks of this huge puzzle.

This fifth installment in the Saw franchise blew me away. It was more than what I expected, and yet I was pleasantly surprised with the entire production... well almost. I only noted one story hole, but with most of the Saw movies, what you think might be a bit of a hole, is explained in the next chapter. Also, the story gets nearly a perfect score for its new light that is shed on the characters. It's a build up, and the film uses a lot of flashbacks with new footage to add insight and dramatic interpretation to the story. You almost feel like you should include the original Saw through the new installment as a whole when giving a story rating! That's how it should be. I have to say the acting is amazing here just like in the previous Saws. The direction too is pretty Good. As to be expected, the visuals are always stellar for these movies. Their intent is to evoke horror and shock, to make our skin crawl, and make our stomach churn, while at the same time giving us a thrill, and a morbid fascination for things we ordinarily would shrink from. Out of all of them, Saw V is perhaps the goriest that I've ever seen. I had to look the other way in one scene because I thought I was going to be ill. A word of warning to those who have weak stomachs. Aside from that, this fifth installment did answer questions from the previous ones but it left you wondering what now and what will be the next thing to happen. I guess all will be revealed in Saw VI, but in the meantime we'll just have to sit tight. All in all this was a great film with a huge twist.

Saw 5 is one of the worst of this franchise! HS Musical rates at over 60% at RT'S site, Saw V got a measly 12%. Hopefully they'll quit making them and save face before all is said and done-WAIT, the SAW Franchise IS DONE!!! Sure, #6 is on its way but very few will go to it next year and I'll skip it for sure. Had high hopes that maybe they had improved after the terrible #3 but they didn't. Oh well, only wasted a few bucks but save yours, it's not worth it this time.

None of the Saw movies has "Complex Storylines" but they do have insane amounts of gore and mutilation and other wretched things. Yes some go because of this but it would be nice if the stories could be better. Probably a wish that will never be granted but it just goes to show how movies are going the wrong way. Yes I saw the Saw movies and don't need a notebook to keep track of the plotlines or story and I've also seen HS Musicals. Movie goers have varied tastes and keep an open mind when viewing the family ones as well as the gore type. Saw movies are just plainly made to be shocking but when they can't write decent scripts in addition to all the mutilation etc., goes to show that each one has less and less of a run at the 1st theaters and is quickly sent to the bottom basement discount ones. People have always liked gore but this franchise has had it. Number 6 will be pathetic and I'll wait for the DVD instead of going next year.

In a time of political up-rise and economic downturn one would think our 'movie' industry would be more in tune with the current issues at hand. Instead we are delivered a whole list of forgettable adventures that have single handily stolen our spare time. Why are we so involved with the horror genre? Its seems as if this bloody epidemic has deleted our statue of limitations in regards to what is acceptable. Past 'horror' movies have no real detail, the central character are somewhat fantasy and the gory scenes are nowhere as graphic. Yes 'SAW' is a well produced series, but it's not spooky or amusing, it's just plain twisted. The 5th installment is only for real fans of the franchise, passers by such as myself will label it retarded. We the people must make an effort to refrain from watching a film on opening night if we are led to believe it's a cash grab. Money spent on the theater date could have been used for purchase of an actual hard copy. To each their own but my vote is nope for SAW V.

This one gives you even more insight into the background of Jigsaw and the cast of characters. The Saw series makes you think and the ending is always nicely done. Obviously we will see more of the same next Halloween.
