I usually hate romance or drama movies, but this and I am Sam just touched me. I loved so much, I watched it 7 times before I bought it. Now, I know like half the script by heart. A defenint must see, in fact I give it 25. Its number 3 on my top 5 favorite movies. 1Big Fish 2I am Sam 3Dear Frankie 4My cousin Vinnie 5The Sixth Sense. A REAL TEARJERKER :) IN A GOOD WAY.

This movie is more than I expected, it kind of reminded me of ''Les Choristes'' so if you enjoyed it, you will probably like this one as well. The story and the dialogues are brilliant, but beside Gerard Butler, the acting is a bit weak. You will definitely wanna cry from time to time (even if you are a real man)!

You have to see this movie! I didn't know what to expect when I went to see it and it still took me by surprise. All the characters were wonderfully acted and the story was touching and well thought out. The only downside was that the movie seemed so short-I could have happily sat there for another hour!

Highly enjoyable Small budget film. Brilliant dialogue. No schmaltz... even though it could have been warranted.

Amazingly touching, beautiful and inspiring. I recommend it to everyone even if they don't like dramas that much. Very good acting and very sexy Gerard Butler!! You can't go out of the cinema without being profoundly touched.

Very touching... simple yet rememberable... not a comedy or action or romance movie... nothing fancy... the characters in the movie make it seem "real"... I love frankie... he doesnt say much in the movie but you still feel a connection with him.

Very well acted. You won't cry or laugh in this movie, but you'll have a warm feeling about it. Ending was inconclusive. Not Oscar material, but worth seeing.

This movie shows the value of love between parent and child. How a mother will sacrifice everything for her son. But also how the son is wise beyond his years and how he has learned from his Mother's compassion how to give and accept love.

A beautiful movie, very heartfelt and touching. A down-to-earth movie, with real to life characters. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and I can't wait to see it again. I just might have to own this one. Very highly recommended.

Simple yet so touching, deep, marvelous... Nothing flashy, quite down to earth which made it realistic (unlike sooo many of these movies) and you leave the theater with thoughts to meditate on... The young boy was superb, Emily Mortimer wow! And Gerard Butler at his best... You could really "feel it"! Amazing movie, I definitely recommend it, will probably see it again, would it be only to listen to the beauty of the accents (but there's also much more than that)

I have a problem with the Irish accent, but this time I got about 95% of it. This is a «chick flick», not for every guy out there.

Just like a good novel. The story takes a little time to develop, the language and lifestyle are true to the culture. The ending has a surprise element to it. I particularily liked the essence of silence, Frankie and his Mom 'spoke' by non verbal communication.

A good movie. A little slow moving/developing. The subtly introduced twist is not vague but not strong enough for my taste, it leaves too much to be imagined. I would have liked it completed with additional material - a reunion of boy and mother and fake father.

This is the most realistic movie that I've seen in a long time. Everybody can relate to it since in our everyday life we have to make some decisions which we may end up questioning ourselves. The characters have grown and learned from this experience and that we don't always know what life as plan for us! This is a movie that is worth buying!!

This movie could of happened in real life. The fear and struggle this mother exhibits to protect her son is heart wrenching. In the end she has matured and her son has grown and surprised her as well. A great movie!

I rated this movie ten out of ten because it was a beautiful movie... Totally... the best movie I have seen in years... In January I was watching Ella Enchanted with my Friend and they had a sneak peek at up coming movies and Dear Frinkie Showed ( Special Features) My friend, My friend wasn't into the plot because all she watches is horror movies nut, I thought it looked really good... So, I waited untill it come out and Saw it... It was worth the wait and totally worth the wait to buy it on dvd. And if my friend gave it a chance she would of liked it, anything can touch a persons heart and this movie will.

I loved the authenticity of the movie. The relationships were very realistic, for instance, when they first meet, there is some obvious awkwardness as it should be. Well done! I feel in love with the boy. Isn't he the cutest kid you've ever seen. Priceless.

I never thought I'd like this movie, especially since I think me and my friend were under the age of the target audience. We only saw it because 'Guess Who' was full, and I must say, it was amazing! Wasn't predictable at all! It made me laugh and we both cried!

The setup sounds like a horrible Harlequin romance, but it turns out to be a real charmer, absolutely NOT just a chick flick. I wouldn't change a thing. You'd have to be made of stone not to relate to the characters and story line. I wish they'd make many, many more like this. I will *definitely* buy the DVD when released.

Someone gave me the tickets to this movie and I didn't really know what to expect. Now, I have to admit that this is the best movie I've seen in years! It's funny though, but I don't really know why I enjoy this movie so much. I guess I am just in love with it... without any particular reason.

A Small film with a big heart. It could easily have crossed the line into sapiness but thankfully, it doesn't. Performances are understated and very real. There are no weak acting links, right down to the supporting characters. Gerard Butler is particularly outstanding - mysterious at first, but slowly revealing his gentle nature. He shares a lovely chemistry with Jack McElhone and Emily Mortimer. In particular, there is an amazing scene between Gerard and Emily near the end of the film that you just wouldn't find in your typical Hollywood movie. Please take a chance on this heartwarming story. You'll be glad you did.

Smart, well-written script. Simple yet engaging, love the ending!!! I left the movie smiling:) One of the more memorable movies I have seen in the past few years. If you like movies like "Waking Ned Devine", you would like this one. And as an added bonus, this one has Gerard Butler! Can't wait for the DVD to come out.

Well-done movie, you cry with the joy and sadness inside. The angle of the description is so unique that it's worth watching it several times, not even mentioned the rich performance of all characters.

This was a really good movie about real people. Unfortunately you would never see a movie like this made in Hollywood. What made me laugh was an older women in the theatre who said "oh my" when Gerard Butler first appeared on the screen.

Go see it now, and I mean it. I'm definitely buying it first thing when it comes out on DVD. This is a movie that I never thought I'd fall in love with. A moving real-life story with a strongly developed plot. Emotionally touching, yet doesn't fail to include humor. In my opinion, one of the best movies ever made.
