This is a MUST SEE. I do not usually buy movies on DVD but now OWN two copies of B&P (one to watch at home and the other in the office) It is a great love story and the music, the dancing and the colours, WOW! This film depicts the indian traditions and culture in a light entertaining way - although I am not Indian, I can relate to it, coming from an island where the indian culture is prevalent. I must have watched this movie about 100 times. The two leading actors are really beautiful and play well together. What about a sequel!!!

DVD: "Bride & Prejudice"
Not a dull moment. If you liked Pride and Prejudice, you'll like Bride and Prejudice (warning it is a musical) Same classic story line, with a cultural twist, and songs that make you want to get up out of your seat and dance along!

I absolutely loved this movie, I would watch it again any time. It makes a girl dream of her wedding day. Relationships are hard, but the movie portrays individuals who are in love and who are serious about marriage. In fact it starts with a wedding!!

I've read Pride and Prejudice and seen the movie and I was very impressed with this re-adaptation. There were a few changes but they were plausible and understandable for the era. I loved the colors and the dances. It is understandable that the songs were a little chauchy for the story line but it's a musical and to be expected. I went on Sunday and am going again tomorrow. Two thumbs up from me!!!

Started out promising but fizzled in the end. Somewhat faithful to Jane Austen's timeless classic except for the whole Wickham fiasco. There was no chemistry between Lalita and Will Darcy (I wish he had a better haircut! ) The singing and dancing were fun and the colours in an Indian film are always bright and vibrant. For a far more superior adaptation of Pride And Prejudice, check out the A&E version with Colin Firth as the "ideal" Mr. Darcy!!!

Seriously, this movie is the worst movie ever... stupid typical storyline... not so beautiful actress, all the time u look at her and u dont feel any connection because she seems such urde in movie... I mean... not even once her eyebrow moved in the movie to show emotions... it was stone face acting... and god dont even get me started on the songs... Not worth the cinema's and not even worth renting on video... AVOID it!

If you know and like the original Pride and Prejudice story, this movie won't really contribute anything new and worthwhile. Same old tricks, new costumes. Aishwarya (sp? ) is beautiful, but some of the pretenses setting up the familiar aspects of the plot seemed a little contrived. I liked some of the songs (e.g. no life without wife) but thought others were perfectly incomprehensible and dragged on waaay too long (e.g. the one they sang in the street about the girl getting married)

It is a treat to watch. An interesting movie which beautifully portrays the problems inherent in the eastern and western cultures. The acting of all the actors is very good and Ashwarya's performance is superb.

This movies brings to light several steretypical issues regarding Indian women and I was pleased about that. It had its funny moments and lacked momentum in some and I certainly agree about the songs, should have been in hindi. It sounded bad in English. Otherwise a social movie with some good laughs and YES, Indian women can be beautiful just like anyone else.

It good to pass your time and to get your mind away from reality and problems that we have today in this trouble world, (I am not talking the war) I am talking about diprission of modernity of today's live, so this movie can help you for 2 hrs. At least then you have to come back to fight the real life from scratch again. Bcz for rich people it easy to do some thing they wants they can do it, but for poor people it is not easy to keep dreaming so. Good luck to all!!!

Pretty rich girl from India meets handsome rich boy from USA. Everything else you have seen it in soap operas and movies during the last century. Gurinder Chadha does not blush at copying every cliche in the book. I do not give this movie a 1 because I actually laugh two or three times.

I love book Pride and Prejudice and as period piece it is cute. As a reinterpretation into 2005 it is totally wrong. It becomes a ridiculous farce regardless of where it is taking place. I have only seen three other Ballywood movies in English and those were sweet light movies and but this was totally wrong.

The storyline itself needed to be quicker paced but there are some real solid issues that Gurrinder Chadda brought to the forefront. Some stereotypes were shattered but unfortunately some were also strengthened. But in the end, creating a main character (Ash) that can handle all of the Americans 'assumptions' was a positive choice that rings true for many of our young ladies in our community. Thank you.

In response to bindhu713's comment about bride and prejudice I think she is way too white washed and is embarrassed to accept her culture for what it is. When you watch this movie please keep in mind it's a fairy taLE... its reel life which is obviously different from real life. Enjoy the dances and dialogues, costumes and culture, a unique blend between the east and west. The music is fab!!! I give gurinder chadha a 10/10. Unlike some people who lose their roots [...] I am like balraj remain very rooted and cultured inspite of being away from home. I recommend everyone to watch this movie to learn more about mu culture. If you can find my big fat greek wedding funny I see no reason for people to critcize bride and prejudice... [...]

Very enjoyable. A good follow-up to Bend it Like Beckham. It makes me wonder if I should see some real Bollywood movies. Jane Austen's story gets compressed somewhat but I enjoyed this interpretation very much.

This is a great movie to see when you're looking for today's equivalent of a production by Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe, etc or even Andrew Lloyd Weber. It's a Broadway musical with great singing and dancing. And like all Broadway musicals, the plot is somewhat thin, but who cares. It's teriffic entertainment.

Great movie! The music, dancing and coulours were uplifting and rich. Refreshing to see a movie that is consciously respectful of sexuality and celebrates female and male beauty without exploiting it. I actually went to see this movie because the movie we planned to see was sold out (Sideways) I hadn't heard anything about it previously but was really glad I saw it!

I loved the movie it was great. It's a nice change to go see a movie where there is no sex, they leave it to the imagination the audiance has to use their own minds for a change. It had great music and dancing and very colourful clothing I enjoyed it very much and told many of my friends and family to go see it.

Four ladies went to see this movie, we are all over 50, thoroughly enjoyed it, the costumes were fabulous, it was very entertaining, we managed to switch our brians off for a couple of hours. I really enjoyed the music as well as the dancing. It also made me want to go for an Indian meal but my three friends are not adventurous.

For those who want a pleasant evening out, the colours, dancing and romance are pleasant diversions. For those who care about the inherent bigotrys of different cultures, there are some succinct observations here as well.
