This movie was undoubtedly the most hilarious movie I have ever seen. The obvious canadianisms that would be oblivious to any non-canadians make it all work (Beavers!!)

This was the absolute stupidest movie I ever saw. I am a Canadian and curler and am disgusted with the lack of story. It has nothing to do with curling. You're idiot. What idiot gave you a grant to create this rubbish. Another total waste of our tax dollar.

"Men With Brooms" was absolutely in my opinion the number one movie of 2002! It was funny, but also had some drama. I also loved it because it was purely Canadian, and you don't find many big movies like that. I would recommend this movie in a heartbeat!!! Go rent it!!!

This movie is rolling in the aisles funny! Great Canadian movie, who thought a film about curling could be this good.

I only went to see this movie because I generally enjoy Leslie Nielsen, but I have to agree with the comment from one of the other reviewers - "Garbage". The almost non-existant plot is very weakly carried out by several "actors" attempting to be funny, but the script just doesn't have it. Unfortunately, Leslie's character wasn't anywhere near his usual comedic role.

I thought this movie was great fun. This is the first movie in a long time where I started laughing at the begining and didn't stop until long after the end of the credits. FINALLY a movie made in Canada with Canadian content using Canadian artists.

Although some of the comedy was a bit over the top for me, overall in terms of laughing through-out it was one of the better movies I have ever seen. There are so many great little lines that make you laugh out loud.

The best thing for me was the sense of recognition at much of the verbal humour. It was Canadian with that familiar bite. Not being beaten over the head with the "isn't this funny" Hollywood overkill, was a relief, as was the confirmation that a quirky Canadian film is possible (why should the Australians have that corner of the market tied up?) The movie isn't perfect but there were enough visual details, asides and surreal events (gotta love those beavers, the opposing team just for their costumes, the wired commentator, and alert cheaters) The opening credits to an old camp song was a great touch. These more than make up for the cow scene (a pile of manure would have been as amusing) and the seeming improbable conclusions to the bonspiel and the sub-plot of a character's debt. Definitely worth seeing if you like Australian films and like the quirky.

Many knee-slapping, laugh-out-loud moments. The soundrack is wonderful. [I acutally felt very patriotic after watching this film. We don't need "American Content" if we keep making films as well as this one. Good on ya Paul!!

Completely campy. Loved it! A must see for every Northerner (Ontario, that is) Park your pretentiousness at the door and go into this movie feeling free to laugh at yourself - I did. Good work all.

Now I know why I don't go to movies often. This picture is nothing but cheap laughs mostly of a sexual nature. I always liked Canadian productions over Hollywood productions, but this movie sure let me down. A total waste of time and Money.

I really enjoyed much of the movie... But I found it extremely vulgar & profane. Loved the story line, the characters, the Canadiana humour... but only the very crudest of people find it nessasary to use that much profanity, and did we really need to see the sexual exploits of this desperate couple? Like, close the door, or insinuate, or something... but do we really need to see that? -Eeeewww!! Also, if we have to see & hear all that stupidity, How 'bout if the trailers let us know that's what we're paying to see, that way at least we'd have a choice.

For a night of lighthearted entertainment you need to see this true Canadiana movie. If you don't find yourself laughing at it's trueisms (is that a word?) maybe you lived a repressed childhood.

For Paul Gross pulling a Streisand (acting/ writing/ directing/ apparently singing) , it was much smarter than I expected. The cast is fabulous (especially Molly Parker) and the soundtrack PHENOMENAL!!! Thoroughly Canadian and a fun ride.

In all honesty, I found MWB very disappointing. I found myself trying to laugh just to make my roomate not regret for having brought me to see this "canadian" movie. Maybe its simply because im not from ontario or the prairies, but I couldnt relate, and though I thought the beavers were a nice touch, the story was depressing and underdeveloped (actually, I guess that was a good thing) , the curling was barely evident, and Leslie Nielsen was worse than usual (take a hint, Les, retire!) and do we need any more proof that Paul Gross cannot act? So he has a nice butt! I have some earth-shattering news for all of you out there: nice butts do not equal good movies, (even if it IS a canadian one) I just expected more than beer guzzling and low-sperm count (how lame is that?) dudes who scream "JESUS! " as they climax. Mr. Gross, we are not amused. Gimme USA potty humour any day over this piece of canadian crap. Ps. I am still trying to figure out why they put so many ads for this on during the olympics. I went from beaming pride after whoopin our southern friends at hockey, to absolute shame after seeing this movie. God save Canadian cinema, cuz Paul Gross sure can't.

It's about time that Canadians had a movie that they can enjoy. Canada jokes can actually be funny when it comes from someone who knows what they mean, and not from an American who just thinks it's funny.

Do not take kids to this G-rated movie!! The trailers present a "good Canadian fun" view of the film and do not allude to the several fairly raunchy scenes that are presented in the first half. My friend whisked his 10-year-old out of the theater pretty quickly (and was denied a refund) ; once they had left it was easier to sit back and enjoy the film. It's a rolicking, lowbrow snapshot of Canadian culture and the multiple nods to Tim Hortons was particularly funny. Paul Gross, while yummy to look at, alas, is tragically disabled as an actor -- but somehow even that worked in this quirky little film. A definite must-rent.

Men with Brooms is a fun little Canadian ethnography about experiences familiar to us. With its ode to the beaver, the occassional profanity, and hints of small town Canadian geography and dialects, Men with Brooms is true Canadiana.

The movie was quite different from the book and could have been improved as far as character development, but nonetheless a great enjoyment. The humour was witty, Canadian elements were strong and it wasn't an "air brushed vanity film" as many hollywood movies are. It started out a bit weak (character developement) , however the movie improved as it went on. Highly recommend it to any Canadian!

The movie was pretty good, though light on the technicalities of curling. The acting is professional and the storyline is no worse than any other sports-fantasy. The movie is the curling version of Breaking Away - just switch bikes for rocks... I liked some of the off beat scenes especially the wandering beavers, the use of O Canada and the opening music.

A very good Movie A nice change from all those American movies that dominate our market. Any body that trashed this movie has been brainwashed by the US film industry. The movie had a few weak spots but over all the comedy worked really well. Hope Canadian film industry takes notice and promotes more movies of this kind.

I thought I'd give this movie a chance since my friends from Calgary and Nova Scotia were in town and wanted to see it, what a mistake!!! No wonder Americans think we're a bunch of farmers!!!! If this is the type of movie the Canadian film industry is going to rely on for a boost then it's in serious trouble. What an embarrassment!!! If this is what Canadians are portrayed as and people who saw the film are proud of it, well then, I guess my friends are right, I'm not a Canadian, I'm a Montrealer and a Canadian when it's convenient.

This movie was exquisite and of perfect taste for any man of Westmount. I truly believe it will impress and inspire you to become the supreme curler in Westmount. I know it worked for me. Surely, you understand that you must watch the rock as it gets smaller in the distance.

This is an extremely bad movie. They attempt to be funny the whole movie, while revolving around an extremely weak plot. I say "attempt" because they never really are and it's really sad to see all these people embarassing themselves on the big sceen. DO NO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

I wanted to say a lot of nice things about this movie and that is about all I can say. It was nice. I like Paul Gross and his off beat style of humour (ie. Due South) but I felt this film was all the time straining for some humour which did not come off. The unnecessary coming out of the Gay cop at a curling match is a case in point. A real shame, maybe we should have Due South, The Movie, that might work.

This is a funny movie. Not the absolute best movie I've ever seen (that would be Braveheart) but certainly very good and very much worth a watch. It's not as predictable as many of it's south of the border companions (The replacements, mighty ducks, etc) and has a zest and appeal that is truly Canadian. All who consider themselves Canadian should definitely see this movie. And check out Paul Gross' sweet car too.

Men with brooms rocks. Paul Gross has done canadiens proud with a excellent comedy comparable to any Hollywood comedy. Hopefully Paul Gross continues to direct and write films as he is very talented Canadian.

I saw the avant première so I really wanted to like the film, because the actors and director were there and everything. Unfortunately for Canada, IT SUCKS. The sad thing is, a lot of money is being spent on promoting this film, what could they be thinking? It depresses me because I am certain that a film this bad will not be a success and distributers will use it as an excuse to not promote GOOD Canadian projects in future. Well I got news for you, don't start with such a lemon. I think last weeks review by Matthew Hays in the Mirror best expresses my feelings on why this movie does not work..
