This movie was amazing. Great special effects and lots of brutal action make this movie whole.

Some of the Actors where great although some of the dialogue like on the Begging when Bruce Willis and the other guy are talking near the docks really gets annoying, I also found that the movie concentrated to much on gore rather then plot element and well exacted action scenes... The Storyline I was also not really dragged into that much and the action scenes where poorly exacted. 300 Was much better. Sin city is a movie I [wouldn't] recommend, you should skip it's not really worth watching.

This was a great film. The action was not over dramatized and the visual effects were well done. It follows closely to the graphic novels and was an all-around master piece.

This is a movie. I appreciate that it was based off a comic scene for scene but seriously. I am more than disturbed and I like violent even horrific movies... And people wonder why women are still seen as pieces of meat to haul around. Just tna. Right. The story SUCKED! It was like a bad 50's film. I am going to do my best to forget the last 2 hours.

Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are great directors. I loved the way the storylines came together and the scenes in the bar where all the characters are there but don't know each other yet. The acting was very well done and every scene was well thought out. I don't like reading comic books but I might make an exception for this one.

I have never left a movie crying before this. The movie was a gross attempt to push boundaries and sensualise violence to such a degree that I found myself wishing I had not subjected any part of myself to that film. It was not the typical violence that may set a scene, brings in action and gets the heart pounding no, it was violence that rots souls!

Enjoyed this movie even though I haven't read the comics yet. Be warned though, it's violent but you didn't expect Spongebob Squarepants now did you? If nothing else, the movie is worth seeing just for the colour - truly a beautiful film to simply watch.

Very interesting effects and cinematographie. The screen actually shows an action comic sceens flip fast to have movements. Geneous effects. The story is a typical action comic. If you like effects or cinematographie go see it.

This movie is a Masterpiece. Its dark, funny, ultraviolent, has style and feel, and is just plain nasty. Above all that it has a stellar cast. It reminds me of the 80's post-punk era and all its excesses but even more extreme.

Could not stand it more than the first 15 minutes... I was looking for a real action type movie and awaiting for it to start and to avoid the narrative and childish script... even if it Was given to me for free, I would not hesitate to throw it away... this century worst ever movie that my eyes have ever seen... I guess money can buy critics to shut up or to promote it. After only 15 min, I was so anger to have waisted my time and money...

I wouldn't have thought that I'd enjoy watching a black and white movie, but the director made it work with touches of colour throughout that added visual interest. This movie is pure entertainment - kind of a guilty pleasure. It shamelessly manipulates your emotions, gets your adrenaline pumping and you're soon rooting for the rough hero with the heart of gold. If you're a prude and can't get past the fact that the heros you're supposed to relate to are all strippers, whores and criminals (albeit "misunderstood"), you're not going to like the movie. For those of us who can be more "objective" this is pure entertainment.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I'll give it 5 out of 10 because the first half was really good... then it just got old, long and boring. Should have ended when Mickey Rourke's character dies.

This is one of the best movies of the year. Great cinemetography, innovative graphics, great plot. It is a perferct reproduction of the graphic novels on screen. Great even if you don't like comics. The dialogue is okay but it suits the atmosphere of the film. GO see it!

People walked out of this movie. That is a warning, as in sure some people love it but it is also the type of movie that some people are going to hate enough to walk out. Newsflash people! We have colour film now a days. I found that the directors use of black and white with a bit of colour splashed in got very old fast! If you think it was cool, it has been done before. I am a Bruce Willis fan and watch two dozen of his movies. The first time I have known him to give a ho-hum performance. Sin City and Hostage is the first time I have seen him act the same character for two different roles. On the other hand, most of the stories were enjoyable..

This was such a bad movie. Loved the black and white theme with the colours on stratigic things, but aside from that... it wasn't that good. I fell asleep and woke up and nothing much but more killing had happened... Barely a story line.

Great film don't understand why people are bashing this movie? They is a storyline and look deep into it and you'll find it. Visual effects are stunning. Acting was good. People who complain about it being too violent should have done there research about frank miller's graphic novel before hand. (And Why would you bring your children to a 16 and over movie? ) this movie was one of the best movies I have seen for a long time. I give the ok to see this film, but do the research. Bottom line is if you go see the movie watch it with an open mind, and not let the violence get to you, pay attention to semiotics within the movie, it will help you understand the film better. Well I do understand that everyone has a right to an opinion, this is why I'm offering my opinion. Hope you enjoy the movie as much as I did (='_'=)

[...] Clearly most of you who are claiming this movie is too fake dont understand what a comic book movie is and what kind of style it has. Save the readers some time, stick to your reality tv and dont go see movies that are outside the typical movie norm. Awesome movie, I loved, yes it has violence, Tarentino attached his name to it, what else were you expecting but a violent movie that is outside the movie norm.

There are going to be many people who love Sin City and many people who hate Sin City, and that's just the way it goes. This is not the kind of film that people will walk out of saying "It was... ok" No, people are either going to jump right on board with it and have a ball, or people are going to pull their hair out. Personally, I loved this movie. I haven't seen anything this entertaining and original in a long time, and as a movie buff, this film was a refreshing treat. The cast was superb (Mickey Rourke, my new hero) and the entire film has such a wonderful look to it that you almost get lost in it's beauty. Whether you're staring at a wonderful black and white image of a gorgeous woman or squirming at the site of a dismembered limb, this movie will hypnotize you with its constant barage of eye candy. Robert Rodriguez proves once again that he is the true rebel in hollywood and that he can deliver the goods. Not to mention the addition of Frank Miller as co-director which, I believe, truly helped make the film that much more wonderful. And even though there are many thematic elements here that are generally aimed at men, that doesn't mean that women can't enjoy it as well. My girlfreind loved this movie just as much as I did, especially because of some of the more empowered female characters (Rosario Dawson, giving the best performance I've ever seen from her) So, if you're a big fan of the movies, you have to check out Sin City, because it's a guraranteed good time. And even if you aren't the biggest movie buff, check it out anyway because it just might be the film for you.

If you take away all the violence in this movie, its actually very good, but unfortunately the whole entire movie is just one graphic killing after another. I almost wanted to throw up at some scenes. It's too bad though, because the cinematography was great. It was very original, and had some great actors/actresses who played their roles very well.

I will like to say just one thing about this movie... WOW!! What a masterpiece. Everything and everyone is perfect for their roles. A must to have in my DVD collection. Yes, has a lot of violence, but I won't be showing it to kids... so enjoy it for what it is. This movie deserves the title of NOIR and it will become a definitely CULT movie.

This was an excellent piece of film. The special effects and acting were superb! I found Elijah Woods character Kevin very creepy, he was spine tingling. Mickey Rouke was perfect as Marv and should be recognized for his performance. And finally Brittany Murphy in a good role for once! Every character was well cast and Nick Stahl was great as the Yellow Bastard. Everyone was great. I reccomend this film top anyone who loves good acting, stylized violence, and great effects. Even if your not a fan of violence you'll enjoy it, my mom hates violence and she still enjoyed it. SEE IT NOW!!!

Meh. You know, this is a great film to look at, the things they have done are visually stunning. I expected extreme violence so I cannot dock it marks for that. But I think it was poorly directed in some ways, the acting is spotty (some of the acting is good, some ok, but some just TERRIBLE), and the film really suffers from a lack fo clarity in terms of plot.

I can't believe the glowing reviews that I just read. Yes, technically it is great, but the storyline is not great. The violence is too much. Go to see this movie only if you want to watch violent images. It's not that I mind violence in films but this movie just tries to up the ante with every violent occurence. That's all it was about..

The movie was definitely very graphic, yet somehow tastefull. Just thinking about some of the really disgusting stuff still makes my stomach turn. If it had been any other movie, I probably would have left, however, the magnificent cast and powerful performances have made me appreciate the movie for what it is. A movie. As gross and graphic as it was, It was just a movie and although many of the concepts were completely off the wall, I can appreciate the fact that the all star cast did such a great job of bringing Frank Miller's Novels to life, that some people can't get past the fiction of it. Weather you loved it or hated it, you have to love the fact that everyone's talking about it! Mickey Rourke RULES... nice to see him back!
