I agree with riverdalekid. La Marche de l'Empereur is a masterpiece for documentary. It is touching and should be watched by everyone for a better understanding of the animal nature.

I love Documentaries. But why should I pay so much for this one when I felt I should be watching it free on the Animal channel or Discovery channel. I learned about half a dozen things about penguins, but felt those could have been told to me in about 2 minutes and been more entertaining.

At first you hear documentary and your mind switches back to the days of elementary or high school even when you had to sit through those boring documentaries. Well you can just cast that shadow from your mind and prepare to be blown away by this dazzling yet subdued look into the lives of the emperor penguins. First of all they are magnificent creatures, so tall and regal looking, the name emperor truly fits them. From start to finish you cannot help but be amazed at the life of these creatures. They take us on this wonderful journey of laughter and play, love and heartache, birth and death. They know what will happen and yet they trek on, pushing themselves and each other onwards toward matehood, couplehood, birth and separation and they do it every year. That takes commitment and perseverance and we stand to learn a lot from these birds who do not fly. Go rent it you won't regret it. If you have kids, watch it with them too.

Its the coldest place on Earth! Wow! March of the Penguins is a very good movie. It shows the life of penguins and they are kind of like humans but have some of the worst lives. This movie is very factual, there are many interesting facts. I learned a lot from this movie. This movie is also kind of sad at some scenes. Overall, amazing documentary, one of the best documentaries Ive scene. I suggest you watch this movie. You will learn a lot and wont regret watching it!

I saw it in french and it was really nice to watch those emperor penguins. They give to us a good lesson of life, the way they are living and how they have to face the cold condition in the south pole. You should see that with your kids if you want even if there is not that much action.

I thought this was a great film. For me, I got very emotional when some oh the baby penguins and other penguins don't make it. This film was a real signifigence for me because it made me try and search stuff to help the penguins life. A wonderful movie!

I suppose I'm one of the few who found this movie extremely boring. I would have preferred to have a summary sheet of exactly what penguins have to go through in order to reproduce and save myself the 1h20 minutes. The film was a real eye-opener to how stupid / smart penguins really are.

There comes a point in your life when you have seen it all before and you think you understand everything. And then along comes a little movie about a bunch of Penguins who would die for the survival of there young and you realize just how obtuse we humans have become. This movie is to real to describe. I don't know what it is about this movie but It put so much into perspective..

It is pretty to look at, and the penguins are cute. The problem is that there is not enought material for a movie. It would have made a nice 10 minute info clip. This movie gets painfully boring.

Had someone told me that I'd be spending the better part of two hours engrossed in the daily tribulations of a bunch of chronically isolated penguins I'd have laughed my head off. Then I did exactly that. Not the most thrilling or exciting movie, March of the Penguins is bizarrely engrossing and heartwarming - this last from my girlfriend. It is amazing how quickly you actualy become attached to these extremely rugged creatures. Definitely worth checking out.

This movie is only for fans of the wildlife documentry genre. I found it to be entertaining and informative but overall a disappointment. It's well made but It didn't give me anything I haven't seen before on cable. I was expecting some BIG SCREEN cinematic experience; it was just a TV show. I was also suprised how sanitised this movie was, I have seen many doc's of this type and death comes often and is often brutal and bloody. Wait for the DVD with all the behind the scenes extras.

The most beautiful documentary I have seen so far. The narration so articulate, made the viewer feel he was a part of the life-threatening conditions. The difficulties faced by these simple creatures who endure the harshest of all weathers; shown so well. Every triumph was like my own little victory and every defeat like my own loss. The cinematography is spectacular, dont miss the last few minutes after the documentary where they have shots of how the brave cameramen and producers went all out to give us the fantastic piece of work!

One word - Borrring. Not what I thought it would be at all. Some parts are cute, but it is definitely not for kids. Real life death is a main focus. You see many penguins die, young and old. It may be the circle of life, but that's not what the movies are about.

Great documentary. Beautiful cinematography (the South pole panoramas, with all those icy landscapes filling up the screen, are very powerful images) and great storytelling. It is not only interesting (the voice of Morgan Freeman is only icing on the cake), but we actually come to care for those little walking birds in a tuxedo. It is amazing how some of nature's creatures are able to withstand the harsh tests that nature itself creates for them.

What a wonderful film. Breathtaking cinematography and lasting emotional contact between the viewer and the penguins. No real mention of the effects of global warming on them, even though it is an issue. But you cant help but be aware of it so I guess it works and you dont have to sit through the usual "human effects on ecosystem" stuff, which, lets face it, is never the best part of the film. I wouldnt reccomend taking anyone under the age of six for it requires some attention span. And see it if just for the make out scenes. Hot!

I took the kids to see this movie (ages 5 & 6) suprisingly I got bored of it long before they did. They sat entranced and want to see it again while I did find it good but won't pay to see it again - would have made a good tv doc or feature.
