I've recently become a great fan of John Cusack. He consistently makes strong movies and this one was not a disappointment in the least. Great, solid thriller full of ups and downs, twists most of which you never see coming. A VERY STRONG 7/10 (more like 8 really)

Interesting plot, but a little stale at times.

Not a very good movie. I picked it at random at the videoclub and regretted it. There is nothing particular about this movie, just a guy wandering around in stripclubs. I did like Oliver Platt's character, he has the best lines in the movie (if you don't get sexually offended)

I've chosen "Not good even if you don't pay" as the rating for this confused mess of a film. I wanted to leave after 20 minutes but convinced myself to be patient and allow the plot to develop. It didn't. I DIDN'T pay and if I had I would have been looking for a refund. I left after 35 minutes. Let it be said I've never left a movie theatre early nor asked for a refund. A promising cast wasted. And what may I ask, is with this trend to have scenes with guys standing at urinals taking a leak? It serves no purpose other than to distract the audience into wondering if they're going to wash their hands. Blech. Gratituitous pole dancers in the background? Cheap directing tricks to keep your attention when there is absolutely NOTHING going on in the script. Don't even get it on video.

This movie was more of a Film Noir than a comedy. So if you enjoy Noir it's worth seeing, but even then the film could have been much much better given the actors, writers and director involved.

Standard so, so fare from an otherwise talented bunch of filmmakers, but technically, what a piece of crap! What was it with the boom mic floating in and out of shot anyway? Don't these guys look at the rushes everyday? Why wasn't the boom operator flayed alive and left to rot for his clumsy work? Everytime I tried to concentrate on the story the microphone would suddenly appear in the shot, reminding me that I was on a film set, and definitely not a particularly well run fim set at that. I've seen better "caper" stories before. There was no mystery, no surprises, no fun. Oliver Platt was great as usual, John Cusack seemed not to know what part he was supposed to play; Billy Bob Thornton was, simply, hung out to whither and die on the vine. All in all a rush job with nothing going for it whatsoever.

There were some random funny moments, but they didn't make up for the rest of the movie which was drawn out and boring.

This had it's funny moments. Lots of nudity, so not for the small children. A few funny lines which made you smile. Worth seeing if you have a free couple of hours.

Kinda OK, but not what I was expecting. I thought I was going to see a comedy, but no, only some very dark humour. The plot really took it's time to progress and really could've been done in 10 minutes. I really like John Cusack but he kinda played himself I. E. all his other roles. The best bits involved Oliver Platt. He alone is worth 5 out of the 6 points.

I don't really expect much from Billy-bob, but what happened to Cusak? Do you think he even read the script? The best part of this hackneyed, tired old movie was the trailer for Brokeback Mountain.

Interesting blend of humour and violence... You'll probably enjoy this movie if you liked FARGO.

This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen in some time. The movie didn't make much sense and what was with the Mike and boom showing in the picture. I never see anything done so bad. A lot of good actors but couldn't figure out what they were doing in this movie.

Gratuitous but enjoyable. Mean-spirited but clever. Bittersweet but enjoyably thrashy. What more could we ask for?

I usually love John Cusack's movies... however, where in the world did this one come out of!!! First of all being advertised as a Christmas movie!!! Secondly a comedy!!! Please have the critics review this one!!! VERY VERY boring and depressing... This is a first for me to regret having seen a movie... and certainly regretted every penny... I could not find one thing positive of this movie... Not worth seeing!!!

I enjoyed the dark humour in this movie, although I felt that there could have been more of it. Also, the editing could have been improved to provide a better flow in the story.

I was really disappointed because I really like Billy Bob and John. This movie had gratuitous violence and nude scenes that had nothing to do with the story. The concept of the movie wasn't so bad, but it really wasn't up to either Billy Bob's or John's standard of a good "thinker" movie. Oh well, hopefully this movie won't affect their ability to put out future movies of a better quality.

Had potential with the story and the actors but it must have been made with a $10.00 budget. The editor will definitely not win an oscar with this one, and what's up with the Mike and boom in the screen.
