J'ai bien aimé l'intrigue, c'est vraiment tout un imbroglio. Kevin Bacon est un grand acteur, il y a une des scènes ou j'ai imaginé Elvis en une seconde dans son jeune temps, en beaucoup moins beau, je dois l'avouer sincèrement. C'est érotique, pas recommandé aux trop jeunes ados, mais le suspense en vaut le coup, je n'aurais pas pu imaginer pareil scénario, c'est vrai que ce producteur Egoyan est spécial mais quand même réaliste au niveau de tous ses films. Un mélodrame crédible et bien exécuté, Bacon, Firth et Lohman, un excellent trio. À voir avec un certain esprit ouvert...

J'aime depuis longtemps Egoyan. Mais après avoir vu ce film, je l'adore! On sent que l'attention du réalisateur s'est portée autant sur le contenu que le contenant. Les jeux des couleurs et des lumières nous éblouissent tout en supportant les sauts dans le temps. Les acteurs sont selon moi excellent: Firth joue avec brio dans un rôle très différent de ce qu'on lui connait. Egoyan ne réinvente pas la roue avec l'histoire du meurtrier mystère (les réalisateurs le font rarement! ) mais sa sauce sexe et humour noir relève bien ce classique.

Osé mais tellement esthétique! Une photo époustouflante où l'on s'émerveille du reflet de lumière sur la robinetterie, où les serviettes de bain dégagent une aura de clarté, où chaque plan, chaque séquence se voit éclairée de la manière la plus judicieuse qui soit. Un film où les premières images rassurent puisque l'on se dit que, si l'histoire n'est pas à la hauteur, on pourra au moins se repaitre de beauté. Une histoire qui questionne, qui aiguillonne. Sur un ton qui nous colle à la peau du personnage narrateur, Egoyan nous insère dans une intimité à la limite du voyeurisme. Le film pousse loin. J'ai compris que les américains s'en offusquent un brin. On a beau ne jamais voir [...], les images n'en demeurent pas moins terriblement suggestives, presque osées mais tellement esthétiques à la fois. Et l'on suit pas à pas le parcours de la charmante et perspicace journaliste. On apprend ainsi à mieux connaître les protagonistes, on cumule scrupuleusement chaque pièce en espérant parvenir à compléter le puzzle. Les comédiens nous offrent une excellente performance. Alison Lohman, que nous avions pu admirer dans Big Fish, distille un parfum de fraîcheur et un charme fou. Kevin Bacon joue un personnage clé, terriblement convaincant, qui attise presque l'antipathie. Quant à Colin Firth, il se démarque par un jeu plus sobre mais tout imprégné de nuances. Au terme de la représentation, je me sentais rassasiée, comblée. J'avais passé un excellent moment à découvrir une oeuvre marginale et superbe. Bravo Egoyan!

Je ne suis pas surprise de l'étendue des cotes... Films effectivement parfois étrange et tordu, un petit moment de longueur mais... savoureusement imprévisible. La sexualité a son sens, tout a un sens mais on ne comprend qu'en temps et lieu. Je suis passée de «humm, je suis un peu perdue» à «bizzard» à «franchement, un très bon film». À voir!

Un film qui a du style. Acteurs évidement impecables. L'intrigue, non seulement nous révèle petit à petit la vérité, mais nous dévoile également qui sont réelement les deux principaux personnages. Le seul problème que j'avais avec le scénario c'est que les indices étaient toujours offerts à la journaliste sur un plateau d'argent. Notament lorsque le chef de police qui à l'époque avait etoufé l'affaire, dévoile de son plein grès un élément crucial au sujet du meurtre... vous comprendrez.

Pourrait-être beaucoup mieux si seulement le choix de l'actrice principale avait été mieux fait. Elle ne remplit pas son rôle, elle n'est pas crédible alors que c'est elle qui a la vedette! Résultat on n'embarque pas.
