Hey You! We watched the film at school because it's our topic at the moment. It's a very good film, partly funny, which makes you think about special things. Thank you!

Amusimg film. Highlights the realities immigrants face and the younger generations reluctance to accept the old ways. Overall I enjoyed the movie. My only problem was the part where the brides to be came to the house. I thought that it was insulting to the tradition of marriage.

Set in early 1970's England, the film is a comedy/drama which focuses on a family's social problems, resulting from an inter-racial marriage. An ok movie for renting even if there are still new releases on the shelves.

Very, very funny. Also, quite realistic about cultural conflicts & the impact of moving to a new society totally different from your own. In most cases, children born in the new country absorb a lot of this country's culture & reject somewhat their parents' old culture. Of course, problems are bound to occur. This was a great movie which portrays such problems. I really loved this film. Great actors too.

If you like British-style movies and humour, you might like this. I do that kind of stuff, but still found it quite boring. It does draw attention to the interesting situation of children raised as Indians in Britain, but is often overly depressing. This, combined with overused jokes, does not transplant the movie well from the Old World to us here in North America. Be warned.

A truely well made film that acurrately desribes a mixed-marriage household that one father is trying to hold together in the changing Western world. The story is touching, but will definetly make you laugh... . Om Puri is very powerful in his role as a Pakistani man; just his performance is worth viewing!

Good movie. But need to realize that times have changed and that kind of family lifestyle does not exist anymore...

Definitely not a comedy. A drama. It has some funny scenes, but ultimately it's a story of culture clash. The father is, I admit, fairly stereotyped, which is unfortunate. But all in all, a great movie. Very touching.

This movie shouldn't be categorized as a comedy. Even though some parts are very very funny (especially if you have knowledge of Pakistani and British cultures), it remains a dramatic look at some of the results of some mixed marriages. As a result of a mixed marriage myself, I can testify that they can be wonderful, as long as the couple shares the same values and communicates well before getting married. Very entertaining movie that makes you think.

Disappointing and ultimately unsatisfying. While the movie has some amusing scenes, it is also very violent and disturbing at points. I was dissatisfied by the portrayal of South Asian families in the west. I am still waiting for a film that depicts Muslim fathers, as something more than wife- and child-beating, yet ignorant and bumbling fanatics. If you're looking to see a humorous take on East/West parent/child conflict, save your money for Marty Chan's "I'm Living with a White Girl. "

Totally absorbing movie! The traditional conflict between teens and parents is taken to new heights in this comical partrayal of a multi-cultural family. It was refreshing to see a movie where it was the excitement of the story, and not just the glamour of special effects, that had the audience sitting on the edge of their seats.

Fantastic!! It was funny, it was dramatic, and it dealt excellently with the conflict between children raised in one culture and parents raised in another. Go see it. It is hilarious!!

A brilliant movie with great performances. It's great to see a film about the Pakistani culture from a non Hollywood perspective. Defintitely worth seeing!

Outrageously entertaining! If you can relate to the conflicts that arise from the desires to nurture your children to the traditional ways of your ethnic culture then go see this tonight. If the generation gap between you and your parents stretches endlessly and you can relate to the pressures of conforming to ethnic traditions in a Western/modern society then go see this tonight. This significant topic is laced with 'kick in the teeth' British humor that will have you laughing even after you've left the theatre (especially if you've lived in England!). A delightful movie!!
