Stepfather is a typical american movie. It's classified as a horror movie but it's not scary. The begining was good but after it became predictable. The acting was very good, the emotions were very real. The story became rapidly boring as it appear to be long. The storyboard is not original and it has no punch. The movie dosen't have any action and suspenful moments. The trailer maid it look batter then it truly is. I think that the effect is not real and freak. The soudtrack is not very present. So I don't recommend this movie. It's a waste of time and money.

Comparable to the original. I loved the original when I first saw it when I was a kid. The story of this one is decent, but the guy in the original seemed more like a really mentally disturbed person. In this one it's not believable. He is good looking, and that's not how messed up people usually look.

Typical teen horror movie. Not much more to say... alright if you're into that stuff. Not very scary though. One or two jumpy parts, and no real horror. A disappointment.

I recommend that you watch the original The Stepfather (1987)-which has just come out on DVD, and it's sequel (made in 1989) They both star Terry O'Quinn (from TV's LOST show) This new version / remake just doesn't measure up to the earlier films, which are now considered to be cult classics.

The movie was quite suspenseful. The girlfriend could have put some clothes on, and they could have left out the name of Jesus at one spot. Other than that, it was quite entertaining.

This was the best movie ever! I absolutely feel bad for the step father when you find out that his whole family was killed by his twin brother that escaped from a psychic Ward. This happened when he just started a new family, and this unfortunate event is what had triggered him, making him crazy, and causing him to kill.

I thought this movie was gonna be one of those crappy teenage horrors. But it was actually really scary and had a good plot. Not predictable either! Worth a watch. It's fun if you go with friends.

I usually don't rate movies however this is a special case. The movie totally blew. It was really BORING watching it waiting for the action to come. There were a lot of suspenseful moments, but during it nothing happened and it's just plain annoying. When action appeared it was so predictable and lasted like 5 minutes. I would avoid watching this movie, if I knew it would come out the way it did.

The movie is called Stepfather, the trailer tells it like it is as well. If you go because of what you see in the trailer, how can you be disappointed? I don't get some of these comments, what were you expecting exactly?

This movie was crap, it was slow and boring for the most part, you literally could have fallen asleep. The end was disappointing, and there's just no explanation... a guy goes through life killing innocent families for no reason. It was ridiculous. I wouldn't even rent this crap. You will leave the theatre wanting your money back that's for sure.

Meh it wasn't anything special, just another teen "thriller" movie. Typical ending, although they try to pass it off as a surprise or different but it really isn't. If Penn Bagley's looks aren't enough to keep you sitting through the movie then I'd say wait to rent it. It was decent enough to see if there's nothing else in the cinema playing. Overall just meh.

A decent enough thriller, but we don't get into the mind of the stepfather (his psychopathology) Why is he this way? What are his motivations? The build up to the climax is all right, but the actual ending is not drawn out long enough. Plus, I agree with the other reviewer who wrote that there were too many gratuitous scenes with the teens in their swim trunks/bikini. Quite AVERAGE.

This movie was good, it was just to predictable. I enjoyed it, but the ending just ruined it. This movie was suspenseful though, just the way the stepfather killed his victims wasn't that great, there was barely any blood, and I was looking forward to the scene where the blade was hanging down the floor, but it was a disappointment. It was like another typical thriller. THE DIRECTOR COULD HAVE DONE WAY BETTER.

Based on a 1987 remake, this movie is geared for fans of horror movies. Great cast -especially the main lead actor who excels as a psychopath serial killer using divorced or widowed women with children. There are many scenes not recommended for the fainthearted such as the finale climatic scene.

This is the kind of crap that you can see of The Lifetime channel on TV... The characters are all stereotypes, the script is INCREDIBLY PREDICTABLE, the settings are BORING... The actors are pretty much average. I could have written a better scenario in my sleep! My gf and I left at 4/5 of the movie since we could make out everything that was gonna happen in the next 10 minutes. Good movie for VERY YOUNG people that have never seen a 'horror' movie at the cinema. BAD MOVIE if you aren't used to lower than average EVERYTHING. Oh yeah, PLENTY of GRATUITOUS shots of the 2 teens in baiting suits... like any crappy horror movie NEEDS? Don't know how it ended but my end was much less predictable! Wait, let me guess, the young guy finds out that his Stepfather has been killing all the people around him and there is a final fight between the 2 where you are thinking that the Stepfather will win but the young hunk kills him? PASS... WAIT TO RENT, or even better yet, wait for TV...
