[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Many people are stating this movie isn't as good as the first one but I feel this is unfair since they are very different movies chronicling Elizabeth in different eras of her life. In the first she is in her early 20s and inexperienced as a ruler; in this she is in her mid 40s, a grown woman with experience of both ruling, politics and the court. Although this movie is historically inaccurate in certain parts (the naval battle is grossly oversimplified and gives the impression it lasted for a day. No mention of the 60+ ships the British sent out to meet the Armada, no mention of the Dragon formation the British employed to block off the Armada's main escape routes and no mention of the famous scene where Drake is playing bowls while the Armada isn't too far away, the Queen never saw Bess's baby because it died soon after birth in secrecy), all the inaccuracies can be easily forgiven simply because this is a great, entertaining movie that, just like the first, looks beautiful and has fantastic acting. I have even heard some people saying that it is like a middle age version of that crap American show The Hills. I'm assuming this is due to the relationship the Queen has with Bess, one of her wards. That certainly doesn't make it anything like The Hills! The Queen's wards kept her company and gave her comfort in stressful times! Overall a great movie and should be seen by all. One thing though: don't go to Eau Claire to watch it. The projectionist in Screen 6 hasn't a clue. The camera was shaking like mad which tells me no-one is maintaining the equipment or even checking the projectors every 20 mins which is standard policy, at least in British movie theatres.
