It's a good western with lots of action. I was kind of suprised with the ending, it was not what I was expecting, but overall a good movie. I would recommend that people who like westerns watch it.

Awesome movie. Don't really like westerns but that was an awesome movie. The fact that the bad guy ends up giving himself away shows that everyone has some good in themselves.

I love a good western as long as it looks believable, the costumes and the sets were perfect. It is easily one of the better westerns, great acting and story. Well done.

Over all good movie. Makes you think about morals and who's right and wrong. Russel Crowe and Christian Bale both do a great job. Recommended.

I am not a fan of action or western movies, but this one really worked for me. My wife also loved it. Great characters make a good movie great, and Christian Bale's and Russell Crowe's characters are very intriguing. For my money it was even better than Unforgiven, the Clint Eastwood movie that took the Oscar a few years back.

Disappointing, the promotional material compared it to "Unforgiven". Listen, this is no "Unforgiven". The early scenes were promising. It took place in an interesting time and place -- the coming of the trains in the frontier west. You could see corporate america taking control of everyday life, even back then. There was an intriguing relationship developing between the main characters, but then it all dissolved into the shoot'em up formula. Way too much violence and a maudlin ending where the bad guy shows that he has some good to the young boy.

AMAZING By far my favorite movie with Russell Crowe in it. He did a fantastic job. He created a character who was still likeable no matter what he did. Kudos to James Mangold on such a great film.

Typical western movie. Russell Crowe developped a relationship with Christian Bale, plus they both were wearing cowbow boots and cowbow hats.

Good to finally see a good western drama. Haven't seen one like this since The Unforgiven. I was glued to the screen right until the end. The right chemistry of actors and characters.

A pretty good movie indeed. I didn't get a chance to watch the original movie so I can't make any comparisons on that front. All I can say for sure is that even though Russell Crowe and Christian Bale were the stars of the movie... Ben Foster stole the show. He is amazing in his role as the loyal criminal associate of Ben Wade and dominated the story. Excellent cast none the less and a good story line.

Bang bang pow pow... I'm usually not a big fan of westerns. So for me it was a whole new way of watching heroes and villains interact together. And I liked it. Good acting, good directing and good morale. However, prepare yourself to be creeped out by Luke Wilson. I won't say more.

I don't know why this didn't get a higher rating. I loved it and plan on buying it. It was highly entertaining and one of those "hate to love for the bad guy" movies: but you do! Christian Bale was such a sad character but most men would fail to be so righteous.

Enjoyed all the characters in the show. Crowe as the head of his gang, Bale as the father struggling to win self-respect and the respect of his son, whoever played Prince, the number two guy in the gang, and on down the list, the director and the actors really created interesting characters. Where the show fell apart was the plot, which was unfortunately thin, and the climax, which reached beyond my ability to suspend disbelief. Good movie, but fell short of being great.

The western genre has long been one of my favorites, so it was interesting to see how the filmmakers would go about putting a western together in this decade - and I'm a Russell Crowe fan. I liked him in this film - you could see some goodness in him throughout the film in spite of the darkness of his character. I thought the ending, therefore was somewhat predictable, but what disturbed me about the film was the amount of gratuitous violence. This is typical of movies these days and it makes you wonder about the effect this has on moviegoers.

Not bad as movies go, but the only thing that makes it a Western is the fact that they threw in a few horses.

Enjoyable performances by Crowe and Bale. Reminds me a little of a western Road to Perdition. I do agree with some other reviews that there was an issue with Bale's character having a wooden leg but performing some very athletic running and jumping with no noticeable hitch. I thought it hurt what was an otherwise believable movie.

I am a huge fan of westerns, and this one is as good as they have been over the last 10 years or so---great casting and character development, especially in the rancher and his son---wierd ending, though, kind of unexpected and a little unbelievable---strong moral code, which is so rare in today's world---go see this film.

All in all this film was mediocre. It showed potential for a good western film, but it story plot was dragged out and the ending was rather faulty. I would recommend it if youre a huge western fan, but otherwise, wait till its out on video.

The movie lacked everything it just ended, the writer did not connect the audience with the characters so when they died so what also it did not developed them enough this left the movie fast and without any feeling of what was on the go. So I would not see this movie again it was a waste of money, but who knows the next one could be it... something I would never forget or wish to.

This film has it all. Great characters, great actors, a healthy plot, twists, powerful cinematography and doses of humour. There's really nothing wrong with it at all. I suggest it would be VERY entertaining, even for non-Western fans.

I enjoy westerns and I enjoyed this one. Yes, there was a lot of killing but it went along with the story. The dialogue was excellent and Russel Crowe played the lead well. The ending was a surprise. I would recommend this film to those who enjoy westerns.

There wasn't a dull moment in this film. I'm not a huge fan of Westerns but I decided to see it because it was the only thing playing. I was pleasantly surprised! Loved the casting and the character building and the unlikely hero who I was waiting for to do something brilliant the whole movie... but I got his heroism in the end.

This movie is a must see for those that like the shoot-em-up action-type western showdowns. It’s also a very well acted and well written screenplay. I was hoping for a good movie and I got a great one.

3:10 to Yuma (2007) is a smokin’ western. As a western, it is, by definition, politically incorrect. It’s a man’s world. Only two women appear in the movie, the second stereotype being so minor that you’ll have trouble remembering her. Gretchen Mol does a fine job of playing the rancher’s wife, but this role too is a stereotype. It’s a violent world in which shooting someone is, as the bad guy says, like shooting a wild animal: the most important things are speed and accuracy. It’s a macho world with the strong moral message that a man should be resolutely honourable above all else—a strange message in today’s society. If the political incorrectness does not bother you, you’ll be riveted by the story of a desperate small-time rancher and the rest of a posse trying to put an incredibly dangerous robber on the 3:10 train to the Yuma pen. The rancher takes on the job partly because he sorely needs the $200 not only to feed his wife and two sons but to ward off a hostile take-over by a bigger rancher/land dealer. He also believes that citizens have to step up and risk something to see justice done. But on a deeper level, he has tired of endless small humiliations: receiving $198 compensation for having his leg shot off while retreating in the Civil War, taking up ranching in a dry climate because his youngest son has respiratory problems, barely being able to feed his family, being pressured to leave his land so a big shot can acquire it and the profits from a future railway line, and feeling the subtle disregard of his wife and the contempt of his older son. What gives the story depth is this father-son relationship as both the father and the son grow. The father meets challenge after challenge until he is alone in bringing the prisoner to justice. The son grows in a more complicated way—from hostility and rebelliousness, to a jejune maturity, to respect for his father, to love for his father, to a surprisingly deep maturity. A kid who initially appears to be a minor character who is in the movie to characterize the protagonist turns out to be a major character who develops in a more complex way than many film characters. The acting is excellent. Christian Bales as the rancher is amazingly intense: the close-ups of his embattled face are riveting. Some who follow Hollywood gossip might say that Russell Crowe as the wily villain is playing himself, but he creates an interesting character perfectly in contrast to the strict moral code of the movie. I think it was Shakespeare who said you may smile and smile yet a villain be. When the rancher’s son says that the villain is not infinitely evil but has a piece of goodness buried somewhere, we do not know if this assessment is juvenile or insightful, and it turns out to be right. This leads to the only weakness in the movie. When the rancher is valiantly attempting to hustle the prisoner to the train, the prisoner has a chance to strangle him and does not. Although you could do a complicated analysis to justify this decision, it basically rings false. The bandit has killed so many people on a whim, why not one more to gain freedom? This is followed by another scene that rings false: the leader of the outlaw gang turns on his men. Neither of these dubious scenes is essential for the ending of the movie. The rancher could have run his prisoner through the gun fire to the train without an interlude where he was nearly strangled, and the prisoner could have gotten on the train (knowing he could escape later) without turning on the men who were trying to spring him free. This weakness takes the wind out of the sails at the end of the race, but until then it has been a captivating adventure.
