In all honesty, the first time I rented this movie, I did so thinking it was a homosexual pornographic film. Ok, not really but I don't remember a single female cast member in the entire thing. Although Tim Robbins plays a convincing receiver. One of the finest acted movies of all times with a terrific story. The first prison movie I've ever seen without the token riot scene. WELL PLAYED. I think I have to dock it a small point for having way too many subplots that are fully explored unnecessarily which makes the entire film a TAD melodramatic. Still though, it's an expertly crafted uplifting film chock full of hope. It's a gorgeous movie to watch as well and the director of photographer certainly earned his wage. Strongly recommended.
