[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] A masterful film that seduces us into allowing it to strip away all the complex layers of emotion we wrap around our lives, and remind us that at the core is a simple truth - the commonality of human experience. It is a story that with minor modifications to the characters and location could be told, and is played out every day around the world - no matter who you are, what your colour or faith, how rich or poor how educated or uneducated, we are all human and we all have hopes and dreams and in the end nothing but our humanity matters. Just imagine what this movie would have been like if the Nicholson character had found himself hospitalized on a business trip in Iraq - a movie with a very different flavour but one arriving at the same conclusion - we are all human. The Writer, director and film editors all deserve awards for giving us this gem.
