[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
My sister (9), my father (53), my mother (43) and me (12) went to see this movie. Personally, I wasn't expecting much, especially after "The Corpse Bride", which was a complete let-down. However, the movie was totally opposite. There were so many thrilling twists and turns, all with a message hidden behind. The "other mother" seemed so perfect and kind, but in the end, she was the horrible villain that stopped at nothing to sew those buttons into Coraline's eyes. The world seemed so perfect, until the buttons were presented. Then her world came tumbling down, along with her "other mother" who was completely dependent on her life, as though she were living off of her. The message is great: when things seem too good to be true, they usually are. In this creepy, eerie, mysterious film, anything is possible. I say, GO SEE IT, unless you are going to bring children who are easily frightened... yes, it's creepy.
